The Black Wave
Sleep is the black wave that eventually overcomes all of us, no matter who we are. The fluttering, closing and opening, of our eyelids is as similar as the waves drawing to and from the shore. Sleep washes over most of us at the end of the day. It is the closing of a chapter and a chance to let go of what had happened earlier in the day to start anew the next. So, why do many of us not allow ourselves to succumb to what is to be a peaceful norm? It is because our brains are refusing to shut off. With the pandemic going on amongst other disturbing things in the world today, it is now more important than ever to escape this world for at least a little while. Because that is all sleep really amounts to be in a 24-hour period, a little while, and then we awake to conquer the next day. Here are some resolutions I'm following in 2022 to bring myself some inner peace. Come, ride this wave!

Just Do What You Need to Do
I have been reading essays by Roxane Gay; first, her book called Bad Feminist about a culture that values women only when they show up in certain, pre-set and pre-approved ways, and now Hunger, a book / collection of essays about her body, her struggle with hating it and feeling trapped inside of it ever since she was raped at 12 years old. I have really enjoyed it because of the way she writes: plainly, honestly, and in a way that makes it easy to imagine what it's like to be her, and that's fascinating.

What Is Self-Care and Why Is It So Important
Many people struggle to take care of themselves and prioritize their own needs. We live in a society that values hard work, dedication, and putting others before ourselves. Many people feel guilty when they need time for themselves or do things that benefit them rather than others. Yet neglecting our own self-care can lead to poor mental health and even illness.

Mom Is Right, You Should Make The Bed. Top Story - January 2022.
Most of you are probably fully functional adults that make the bed every day. Sadly, I am not one of those adults. I thought it was pointless. Why straighten up something that will be messy again later. I know others feel the same way. We are the kind of people who get annoyed by our mothers telling us to tidy up the bed.
