Some of my fav mantras & the like Vol. 2
Not definitive, ironically.

30OCT2021; 1936, SAT
Housekeeping: This is my 7th post to be began/submitted in the past 46 hours or so, and I have at least a couple more planned by the end of tonight. I'm racing to one "stories" (and/or my very 1st "top story"). I can smell that easily earned bonus like the first meal that I ate after my longest lasting fast; which was ironically also 46hrs.
I just felt compelled to "speak on it", seeing as how over-saturation is supposed to be very seldom, if ever a pro (or a positive). "And now, back to our regularly scheduled program."
I knew that this post was coming pretty much ever since Vol. 1 of this series approx six months ago; which of course, I remember next to nothing about. Not to fear tho: I'm referring to my notes from way back when, so as to avoid repeating anything from 16APR2021.
Seeing as how that last admission put me at almost exactly 150 words, and I was #150 when I first joined the military, I figure why not kick off this particular listicle with a few more military mantras? Without further ado:
1.) "Hurry up and wait"- Uncle Sam. Seems simple enough, right?
"Sure as you born", your ability (or lack thereof) to adhere to that tenet of worldwide(?) militaries will determine just how suitable of a career for you it will be. If I remember right, the Aussies, Kiwis, and Brits that I trained with in Germany, '08, were readily relating to our struggle of such.
2.) "Hydrate or die"- Also Unc. Again, plain as day.
Don't imagine yourself jumping out of planes, and "licking shots" (shooting firearms) when you're more dehydrated than a money tree in the middle of the Sahara. Word to the wise: Being a heat casualty isn't fun at all; especially when your brothers and sisters in arms are counting on you carrying your own weight.
3.) "One team, one fight"- Last one from Unc, I do believe. Now that there's six branches of the military (seven if you count the Vets like myself in the civilian world), this one seems more apt than ages ago when I was thinking about considering a wholehearted attempt at being an Airborne Ranger and such.
4.) "Do the knowledge and know-the-ledge"- Someone somewhere prominent in the world of early Hip Hop ("Don't at me!"). Seriously tho, this has gotta be one of the most underrated quotes from a (Hip Hop) Head; "Simple and plain".
It's pretty much my generations version of "Stay woke"; as popularized (separately) by the living legends No Malice and Childish Gambino. This next one is threefold and the final(?) Rap (Rhythm And Poetry) reference for this particular piece; despite me jamming out to some classic, tho new to me, hardcore MCing by a local (Oddisee) that has mad skills, to say the least.
5.) "Word to mommas/Word is bond/Word up"- Old School MC's. The previous trifecta can all essentially be translated to, "You ain't never lied!"
6.) "Bless [it] all"- George Formby(?). This hands down a fav from my very fist Lovely Lady to commit to me after my one and only deployment.
Not exactly sure what this specific colloquialism means actually. However, if I had a dollar, or even a quarter piece for every time I said it since her and I broke up, just over a decade ago now...
7.) "Too soon"- The two inventors of South Park(?). Another top tier contender that I'm not quite sure could be more ambiguous.
If I were to go taunt the team that lost to mine in football today, I could easily expect for at least one of them to get enraged; state the adage above; and/or express the resolve to win the rest of the exhibitions with enthusiasm, eagerness, and exuberance (pardon the alliteration; I'm a poet). Those are just the facts of the matter.

Prayerfully, someone somewhere gets something pertinent (re: useful) from this post. If that somebody's you, then please think about considering a Like/Tip/Share/Sub, and/or checking out some of my other posts.
Also, if you're in the market for an article of clothing or two, there's a link in my bio. Please don't think for a minute that I will be unappreciative of any all who "look out for the cookout".
TIA (Thx In Advance). Peaceful Tidings.
