Should you pursue your dreams? Make those dreams a reality!

An honest opinion about pursuing your dreams.

By JMTBPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Each and one of us have dreams that we are continuously pursuing, questioning, might have put on halt, and others — unfortunately…gave up.

It doesn’t matter what kind of dreams you want to achieve, be it on a grand scale or something minimal. Keep those dreams alive because that could be a journey worth traveling.

Most adults have passed down what I call the “dream life” mindset…

Go to college, get a secure job, work your way up the corporate ladder, retire/work until you’re 60+ years old, and enjoy the remaining 5+ years of freedom.

Nothing wrong with this way of thinking if your dream is to be a doctor, engineer, scientist, or whatever. Although am I the only one who has this train of thought, that not all are created equal and this mindset can lead to some uncertainty, regrets, and resentment towards life?

Let’s be real here. We want different things out of life, we want to pursue different challenges, we want to learn different skills, we want to explore the unknown, and we envision different dream lives! Then why are we all following this historic path, passed down by a generation who lived in a different era?

So…should you pursue your dreams? The short and honest answer is: YES!

Pursuing your dreams will have a positive impact towards your existence. Chasing for what you truly want out of life can make you a better, enlightened, courageous, and interesting person.

Not only does pursuing your dreams give you a direction and purpose in life, it can dramatically change the way a person approaches life.

“Don’t let life happen to you, make life happen for you”

A person who have dreams they are continuously pursuing to achieve has more control and discipline in his life.

The reason is they don’t let life pass by them, they know that time is highly important. They would make important daily decisions to make sure that their dream is a step closer to reality.

This “dream life” mindset can be a wish fulfilled for others, if this is what you want out of life then by all means go pursue it.

For the rest? I know you are looking for something different and want to chase your dream lives. I know this because I’ve been on both ends of the field, and I can tell you I would rather walk the path of the latter.

People nowadays need to be aware that change has already taken place and would advance much further from here on out. We’re in the 21st century, the industrial age has ended. We have transitioned to the information age, soon enough technology would replace hardworking people.

Conclusion…

Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from pursuing your dream life. Stay true to yourself and your vision!

Let me ask you this. What’s stopping you from chasing your dreams? I want you to be as true to yourself as possible and don't limit yourself to what you truly want out of life.

I believe dreams are meant to be pursued, it makes this beautiful yet short life interesting.

If you think no one will support you towards your journey, let me personally tell you this. Each and one of you is strong enough to pursue your dreams. Remember every journey also has its adversities, be prepared and don’t let fear stop you from achieving something great. Who knows you might change the world in a certain way ;)

Take that first step towards your dream, commit to it, and enjoy the journey!
