Sailing
Just a dream and the wind to carry me and soon I will be free.
Well, it's not far down to paradise, at least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me.
I stand on the cliff and I tremble as the jagged rocks dig into my bare feet. A gentle breeze lifts my loose cotton dress from around my knees and it blows back and forth like it's hanging on a clothesline. The sun shines so brightly the top of my head is burning as I listen to the gulls squawking as they fly over my head. I take a step to steady myself so I don't fall. I close my eyes and lift my hands and allow my imagination to take over.
It's not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me.
I'm seeing myself leaping into the air and the glistening rays of sun are like the fairy dust in Peter Pan and I'm flying out across the ocean,
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Fantasy, it gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
The vast blue of the sea is a sight that words cannot express. It calls to me as I float across, miles high in the air. I'm borne on the wind and my fantasy. Further and further I travel and as I look back I can barely see the cliff.
All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me?
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
I'm soaring on the wind and it feels marvelous. My hair is flowing, my dress is still blowing. Peace, tranquility, serenity are all mine. I'm free ooh so free. No one can touch me now. I look down and I'm flying right over a ship with sails but I hear no sound. It's so tranquil and in a moment the ship is but a dot that I have left behind.
Well it's not far back to sanity, at least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find serenity
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see.
Believe me.
I'm in paradise and I never want to return to normal life when suddenly I feel a jolt. I open my eyes and I'm back on the cliff trying to gain my footing. I look back and my husband's hand is on my shoulder trying to keep me from falling. He gently leads me down to the sand and I'm trying to decide if I had an out of body experience or if it were only a daydream. As we walk along the sand I see something coming towards us. I cup my hands over my eyes and squint. I take in a deep breath because out in the horizon is a ship sailing towards.
I grab my husband's hand and we begin running out into the ocean and I wonder where the fairy dust is? Our feet are splashing through the water and we are laughing. Suddenly, simultaneously we lift our joined hands and it happens. The golden rays of the sun encompass us like fairy dust and we are airborne. We land in the ship and immediately it takes flight and we are headed to our forever never land home. We are free.
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
