Nourish Yourself!
Now, it's time to give yourself a gift.
This holiday season, take a break from trying to make it special for everyone else and give yourself the gift of some healing time.
After the year we've all had, you must take some downtime for yourself to ensure you stay balanced and healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Without your inner alignment, you will begin to fall out of balance. You can handle this for a bit, but sustained mis-alinmemt will cause you to do things to compensate, starting in your body.
Our bodies automatically work to keep all our systems in harmony. If we fall out of balance, our bodies will adjust to bring us back. For example, if we drink too much coffee to compensate for lack of sleep, our bodies will adjust to the caffeine. If we then try to back off the coffee, we get headaches because our system is still expecting the caffeine but isn't getting it. Over time, our bodies will again compensate and return to balance without caffeine. There are numerous ways our bodies compensate. I'm sure you can think of others that apply specifically to you.
Over time, if not allowed to return to its natural harmony, the compensation will turn into what we call an addiction. Breaking addictions can be incredibly difficult but the addiction is simply to body's way of trying to create harmony and balance. Eventually, the dis-harmony turns into dis-ease if not given the opportunity to recover, rebalance, and re-harmonize within the self.
This compensation also applies to the mind and spirit too, and extend into our home life, work-life, and relationships. The symptoms can be far-reaching and often people try hard to treat their symptoms when treating the underlying cause is the only solution. The underlying cause is always internal dis-harmony. The solution is alway self-nourishment.
I'm asking you to please take time to nourish yourself with whatever it is that you need to return to a calm, inner peace. You'll know you've succeeded when you are able to feel good just 'be'-ing. It won't take you much time and will feel good. In fact, you can gauge your inner balance with your feelings. If you're anxious, short, exhausted, angry, or experiencing any other negative emotion, this is a sign that you are out of balance. When you are joyful, happy, enjoying the people around you, sleeping well, and experiencing any other positive emotion, you know you're in balance. Did you notice the difference in how you felt just reading those negative and positive words?
Maybe reading your favorite book, taking a walk, meditating, enjoying a warm bath, or any other nourishing activity will very quickly begin to restore your inner harmony. Don't feel guilty doing this. In fact, everyone around you will enjoy being around you and benefit from your harmony. In addition, you'll set a wonderful example for those you care about showing how important it is to care for ourselves.
The investment of a small amount of time in yourself will not only bring you amazing benefits but will heal your body, mind, and spirit, as well as strengthen relationships, increase productivity, and improve family home life. If you're reading this now, I ask you to stop whatever you were about to do next and take 15 minutes right now to give yourself the gift of inner peace. You will be really pleased you did!!!
