I had decided to build a garden of happiness this past summer, and it was as beautiful as the thought behind it.
It has color, cheerfulness and beauty to signify how I wanted to feel about the day, and the world around me.
Why I Erected this Happiness Garden
I erected the happiness garden in the summer of 2024, but I still look at the photos of it in January 2025. It reminds me with all that is happening today and of all the unhappiness and devastation in the world today, there is still beauty for all of us to enjoy.
I decided to make this happiness garden to counteract what is going on in the world around me. From attempted assassination attempts, to hurricane devastation, to wild fires that are claiming the homes of thousands and that are still raging on, there didn't seem like there was much to smile about
So last summer in the midst of the election, when I felt that our country was sinking to all time lows, and nature seemed to be ganging up against us, I decided to build a little positivity in our my own front yard.
I Needed an Uplift
So I don't know about you, but I needed an uplift, something positive to focus on to remind me that there was still beauty in the world. Bottom line is I needed to something to remind me there was still something positive in the world that would make me feel good again and lift my spirits.
I decided to build a happiness garden to refect what a lot of people are feeling these days, worldwide. A need for a change, a need for a change of pace, and a new perspective, to show them there is indeed some beauty left in the world, and a reason to smile.
What Kind of Plants Generate such Happiness
From the green lily plantation, to the red rose bush, to the tropical plants that are all perrenials, so they will come back again next year to spread a little joy. And they will do that year after year after year.
From the hibiscus perennial that I bought early in the summer that had the most beautiful flower on it, to the two plants that are called, Tropical Escape, I think it tells the tale of the realities of a struggling society.
If you take a photo of your garden of happiness, you can look at it long past the summer, deep into the winter months if you need an uplift of beauty.
Why Do Viewing Beautiful Flowers Give Positive Energy
It has to do with beauty. The human mind knows what is beautiful and what is frightening.
It gives off color, and shape, but its delicate, fragile and quiet grace is all their own. Within flowers is a lesson that reflects the true understanding of beauty and perfection, though we might not appreciate it every day.
True beauty and perfection is for a short time, while the flowers bloom, but in the moment it will make you feel happy, Then it will come again next season, so it will only have a temporary absence, but at the moment the beauty will enlighten your spirit, and enhance your mood.
Escape into the Beauty
If you think things are collapsing around you, with the economy, the healthcare system and the job market. If you feel the world is experiencing a divide, with wars escalating around the world, and natural disasters at am all time high, and with fires raging in California, then try stepping away from it all for just a few moments.
If you are in an area that you can build a happiness garden, build a little paradise for yourself, or if you are in the midst of seasonal cold weather, look back on the beauty of the photos of your own happiness garden.
You can have a break from the woes of life, with a little burst of beauty.
Consider it a vacation. You never know when this beauty will pass your way again.

Happiness garden, such a lovely idea, Susan! I really appreciated this story. As an immunocompromised person, I do not get out into the world like I used to, but gardens are always a place I can go and feel safe. Nature is a constant source of personal happiness.
Beautiful! I love it. I also started to gather some Happy plants in my room. It actually comes from uplifting practices, and if I don't do them, I feel as I write at times. Heh, it's true. The beautiful plants do make a happy, uplifting atmosphere, and if you place some in the right corners synchronizing with star constellations, it can help to really uplift and go through this negative sad energy from world heaviness , so keep on going! and They help through their being in Your life :) Thanks to Your care and appreciation!
