What’s your name and where are you from?

My artist name is Ame (@ame.szn), I’m of Dominican descent, and I’m from Elizabeth, NJ

Why do you love what you do?

I’ve always loved music and entertaining. I’m also an actress and have a bachelors in acting. But music is my first love. It’s been there for me every time I needed it. I love how it’s there to console you when you’re alone. I also love how it brings people together.

What makes you different?

Growing up in the North east and being Dominican I get exposes to a lot of different genres of music. There was a lot of hip hop & Rnb around me but also latin music at home. You hear an influence of all of that in my sonics. But ultimately, I just want to be transparent. I hope that opening my heart and bringing listeners into my world through each phase in my life helps them on their own journey. My love life is tragic to say the least (lol). I’ve dealt with verbal and physical abuse. I’ve dealt with liars. It can all make you feel hopeless and give up on love. Ultimately, these type of experiences can make you not love yourself. I want them to know they’re not alone. And that there is hope. I have done a lot of healing since then.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

It sounds crazy but I see myself being an international sensation. I believe you have to dream big and reach for the stars. My genre of music, Latin RNB, allows me to live in both the Latin charts and American charts gracefully and add some spice. I also want to simultaneously pursue my acting career. I’ve already had small roles in the Marvel Daredevil Series and I was on the first episode of New Amsterdam. But I hope to get a leading role very soon.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

Besides my personal career goals and reaching people through my music, I just hope to provide for my family. I don’t want my family to ever worry about money again and be finically free. Eventually, I want to start a family of my own as well, but right now it’s all about my career. I feel I need to build myself to a certain point before I’m ready for all that. I’m personally on a journey of healing and self love right now. I have faith that when I’m in a great space mentally, spiritually and financially, that’s when I will find the right partner for me.

What do you bring to your industry?

Honestly, I just want to do me. My thoughts, my experiences, my point of view, my influences, is what my music is. No one can do me better than me so I feel that’s what makes me original. I simply want to connect with the people who relate, or are moved and inspired by what I do. If I reach one fan, and they are moved and inspired by something I did or said, that’s already amazing to me.

What do you want to be remembered by?

I’m just a Dominican girl from Elizabeth New Jersey with big dreams. What you see is what you get. I hope I can inspire the next little latin girl that’s in the hood, and doesn’t have many opportunities or much help. Maybe she feels hopeless right now, but she can look at me and know that if I can make it happen, then anyone basically can I can.
