Meet Aigerim Kuanysh

What’s your name and where are you  from?

I am Aigerim (Aya) Kuanysh, from Almaty, the south and a cultural capital of Kazakhstan. My name actually means a Moon Fairy and turns out to be difficult to pronounce. I had to adopt a short version - Aya. Although I was born in Kazakhstan, my conscious years I have spent in England studying toward my Bachelors degree in Finance and figuring out who I want to be in life.

Why do you love what you do?

My profession as a hedge fund accountant indeed includes a number of perks that make me wake up each morning with a sense of purpose. Firstly, intellectual challenge, working in hedge fund accounting requires a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills, which provides me with an intellectual challenge and the opportunity to develop my skills. Another important aspect of why I love what I do is working with talented individuals. My industry is filled with highly skilled and experienced professionals, who possess extensive knowledge and life experience. This provides me with an opportunity to work with some of the best in the industry.

What makes you different?

Despite my serious and specific career, I am an ambitious DJ. Prior to moving to the US, I worked in the Big 4 consulting firm and as a PR Manager of a very first techno club in Kazakhstan, where I also DJed. The genre I lean towards is techno, deep house, disco house. I believe it's very important to have a balance of professional intellectual growth and a creative joy-bringing activity.

I find it quite fascinating that in such a short time in the US, I managed to build an extensive network of talented individuals specifically from the music industry and entertainment industry. Honestly, I do enjoy being involved in social and media events. For example, I attend different podcasts for fun such as Fresh and Fit, Unfiltered and We In Miami podcast events. I

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Currently, I am pursuing my CPA, which will take me another year to complete. This paper will provide me with a great opportunity to open my own CPA/ Consulting firm. I see myself growing my business and becoming a well-known DJ in Miami. It would also be great to produce some house music.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

My main purpose in life is to build a name and legacy for myself by providing an outstanding value and quality  through my business and any other entrepreneurial endeavors that come my way. It is also important to me to maintain my public figure/ socialite status while remaining a professional in my field.

What do you bring to your industry?

Surprisingly, I bring something different to both industries I associate myself with. For instance, in the financial environment it is very easy for me to demonstrate essential social characteristics to my affiliates. This helps them understand that it is possible for an individual to be both successful in their career and be involved in entertainment endeavors. There is no designated stigma you have to follow. When it comes to my creative network, I try to promote a deeper financial literacy, financial management to be exact. I do provide individual advice on how to manage personal finances or how to prepare business related taxes. Some friends also come to me when they need a deeper understanding on how to direct and potentially grow their businesses. It brings me joy and a sense of accomplishment, when my friends grow confident and successful.

What do you want to be remembered by?

One of the most important things in life for me is to make a positive impact on someone's life. I want to be remembered as a person who made a positive change. Nowadays, it is extremely rare to meet genuine people, who wouldn't let you down, let alone help. I want to be that person in people's lives that they can come for advice, support. Even being there for someone and hearing them out can make a significant impact on their perspective at a given period of their lives. If my friends start a business, they can count on me to tell my network about it, if my friends release music - I will be the first to post it on my social media. Most of the time, things like these are the most memorable.
