Make Some Changes in Your Life
Little Change Will Create Big Impact
The successful people we know today such as Elon Musk, Dwayne Johnson, Roger Federer, and so on.
When they were born or when they were just about a year old, nobody knew that they would be highly successful.
Nobody is born excellent or average. Wherever you are in life right now for that, your actions are responsible. The actions that you take repeatedly and consistently.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
- Will Durant
You are the result of your habit, excellence doesn't come with a single action, but it can be accomplished through consistent action.
The same with mediocrity. You'll be mediocre if your habits are mediocre.
But the best thing is that if you change your habits, you can move towards excellence.
This post covers some habits that you can take as life-changing lessons. These tiny habits will lead to huge results.
1. Do what you say you are going to do
If you say that you're going to do a certain task, just do it, mean it.
People say a lot about what they are going to do in the future, but they just say, only 1% of people actually do it.
Suppose you said you would wake up early in the morning at 6 AM, but then you woke up at 10 AM, now what?
You'll start excusing, "it's ok, it's not a big deal if I woke up little late," "I will focus on important things in life."
But what you don't realize is that you're building a reputation in front of others.
People judge, trust and respect you on the basis of your habits.
Obviously, it's not possible to fulfill every promise, but it's important that you don't make it a habit.
Try to be someone whose action speaks more than words. That is when people will respect you, and you'll get more opportunities.
Because if you cannot fulfill small commitments you make, nobody will trust you with bigger responsibilities.
2. Implement the 80/20 principle
Your life will be easier if you prioritize tasks that provide maximum results.
"80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes".
For example: During exam preparation, students try to study the entire syllabus, which may or may not increase their result, but it definitely increases stress.
Instead of studying the entire syllabus, if they go through the previous year's question paper, they will find a pattern that most of the questions come from a few chapters, which are hardly 20-30 % of the entire syllabus.
Most people think working more hours, doing hard work will benefit them more, but in truth, it is just a myth. With this approach, the only thing you'll get is stress and anxiety.
Instead, if you prioritize 20% of tasks that give you 80% result, you'll save more time and energy and also achieve better results.
3. Implement effective daily routines
Routines are important for better time management, better focus, and better results. If your day starts positive, peaceful, and motivated, then your energy levels and focus are maintained the entire day.
If at the start of the day you watch TV series or scroll social media, then you wouldn't feel like doing any productive task, but instead you'll feel lazy and procrastinate.
So to enter the peak state of your mind, follow some routines or set of habits that keep you focused, such as waking at a specific time, preferably early morning, walking or jogging, writing down today's tasks to get clarity, and so on.
These small actions or habits give you motivation for the day. It takes you into a flow state, where you're highly focused and dedicated.
It's like a warm-up routine that charges you mentally and physically.
So whenever you feel lazy or procrastinate, follow a routine to enter into a peak state. Read this post to get a clear idea about How to enter Peak State?
4. Focus on acquiring new skills
You can go from average to excellence if you do something extraordinary.
If you keep doing the same thing, then maybe a person will replace you who can provide more value than you or an automated machine.
When you stop acquiring new skills or you stop learning new things, that's when you cannot add value to work and your life.
So focus on learning new things or experiencing new things, read books, acquire new skills such as learning a new language, public speaking, negotiation skills, basic coding, and so on.
5. Don't just set goals- Track them
It's good to have purpose, goals, and ambition in life, but most of the time, we get distracted, forget things or our priorities are shifted.
That is why track your goals.
When you start tracking your progress, you don't forget to take out time for that particular task.
This way, you're consistent with your goals and achieve faster and better results.
