Life Is What You Make It

(whether consciously or subconsciously)

By Shyanne TignorPublished 5 years ago 4 min read

Growing up, I was taught "life isn't fair". We never had much, and you know how children can sometimes be. When we seen others with the things we longed for, our dad's answer was always "life isn't fair". That motto conditions so many people to believe that they must simply accept the life they were born into. As if they can't break the generational "curses" that deemed their bloodline with such terrible "luck". I call it a curse because how terrible is it to think that just because your ancestors lived a certain way, that you too, are obligated to go down the same path? It's sad how some people limit themselves the way they do.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not passing judgement on anyone! I don't blame my dad at all. He was raised a certain way, and believes in those ways, and that's okay. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! However, I believe that anyone and everyone is capable of ANYTHING they put their mind to. No matter their religion, no matter their sex, no matter their race, etc. If you desire something in life, and you truly put your mind to it, you can achieve it!

I've always been different from my family and the people I grew up with. I come from a small town with one traffic light. Most of the people who come from my area tend to be set in their ways, and very closed minded. I, on the other hand, have always been very open-minded. I've always been a leader, and I've always been curious about life in general. I always knew there had to be so much more to life than what I was raised to believe. Boy, was I right!

Skip forward to my mid-twenties. By this time, I had ventured far from home. Probably not on the terms you're thinking, though. I spent my young adult life, up until my mid-twenties, in what I call "survival mode". I'll be honest, I made some bad decisions that I'm not proud of, that came with consequences. Those bad decisions ultimately kept me from being able to start a career, or even a decent job with decent pay. Mind you, I still always knew there was more to life. I was so curious, and "hungry". And I've always been ambitious. I chose to become a dancer in order to pull myself out of the hole I had dug. Again, I am not proud, but hey, I'm being honest. My plan was to save enough money to invest in myself. I had some pretty amazing and unique business plans.

While on my journey as an entrepreneur, I found a little black notebook one day in a room I was staying in for the weekend. On the very first page, it read "Angel Numbers", and listed several numbers with their "meanings". I was blown away because not long before I found this book, I had started to see the numbers 444 and 44 quite a bit. At first, I didn't think anything of it, but when I read about these angel numbers in this little black book, I was blown away. I knew it was no coincidence that I had been seeing those numbers so often. This moment is exactly when I had what some may call a "spiritual awakening". This is when I truly began to heal, and to find myself. I've always stayed prayed up, but this awakening put me on a whole new level. This is also when I learned my true passion for life. I found that I have a passion for helping people. No matter how, no matter who, no matter how big or little. If I could help anyone in any way, it made me so happy.

It's like my guardian angels were communicating with me through these numbers, guiding me along my path. Around this time, I began meditating and visualizing how I desired my future to be. My life began to turn around. It's like I was a caterpillar transforming into a beautiful, strong, and wise butterfly. My life changed for the better in every aspect.

So anyway, one day I wasn't feeling well. I did not feel like going to work at all, although I knew I really needed to. I wasn't struggling at this point, however I still had so much I wanted and needed to do for myself, and others. Still, I almost didn't go. I'm laying there going back and forth with myself, when my cat accidentally knocked the little black book off of my table onto the floor. When it fell, it somehow opened to a page I hadn't seen yet. The page read "Just do it" with a Nike check. I took that as a sign and went in to work that night.

I wasn't there for 30 minutes when someone I never seen before walked in. He handed me a bag of 100 dollar bills and told me to be wise with it. He made me promise to never look back. I counted the money and it was exactly $20,000. I cried my eyes out. Tears of joy. I was so thankful. I couldn't resist. This meant no more dancing. This meant I now had more than enough to fully get my business off the ground.

I'm not proud of my past, but it made me who I am today. Today I can honestly say I am proud of myself. I can honestly say I love myself. Loving yourself is so important!! Believing in yourself is so important!! Life is what you make it. You just have to live with intentions and faith. Also, spread love everywhere you go, no matter what!!
