The keep moving forward edition

The little things

Begin. Again and again, don’t ever stop! Begin to take the steps you need, the ones that are deep in you’re core, at the bottom of your soul. Some would call it the bucket list, I call it life.

Now, I haven’t been to to many places compared to most, I haven’t sailed the Pacific Ocean or walked California Boulevard, heck I haven’t even been to Vegas! I’m a 37 year old woman living in a ‘could been better’ Neighborhood with my two teenage daughters who are mentally stronger than any physiatrist! Ha! You’d think from the sounds of that I probably don’t get out much. Quite the opposite! I find adventure in some of the weirdest and smallest places. Take Alberta for example, definitely not small but not the biggest province we have out there and It’s filled with the most amazing sights, the most breathtaking views, the most fun a kid could have kinda stuff!

Part of my personal growth development was and is to see and show my girls what we have right in front of us in Alberta. The picture I shared is a perfect example it is literally some dirt and weeds, but! The placement, the love and thought that went into the appreciation of capturing that moment in time with my kids. It shows us the significance of being small in this world, what an impact such a tiny mound of dirt with a Mountainscape backdrop, held with a little kindness has on a person. It reminds me that every small thing, every act of kindness, every step forward I take I am on my way, I am experiencing, I am on an adventure! And I’ve come to learn that I can have that in our own back yard, in my own heart and mind.

So these days, I am able to appreciate these things, the aroma of my coffee Grounds when I open the lid to make my morning brew or the way my kids love to share the couch with me and just be together. One of the best things I did this year and partly last is pick up my camera (iphone 6, my kids have better phones lol) and take pictures of what I want to appreciate, the sights, the people, the moments. I have always felt the need to care and be helpful, wanting to be the one healthcare professional who cares deep about others, that’s me! I think it has helped me to recognize some of the beauty in the world around us, the tiny small parts, the hidden ones the beauty in almost nothing. A few years ago I was broke! Walfare broke, and sad in my life, seperation and custody... crap. I was desperate to find any job, however my biggest joy was volunteering at my girls school I found that kids are amazing beings, they are more put together than adults sometimes. The simple ways they proceed with life and doing thing, it really got me thinking. What is life about, why are we here? Like many of us think. Then I looked around some more and I saw it! Right there in front of me, well more like right there inside of me. I could see it, the beauty in the world all around us. Children laughing over fart noises, the birds and how many kinds we have, how easy babies are to care for, the sun and the warmth it provides, the tiny flowers in the world we call weeds, colour in itself. I am an open blank book ready to write the beauty in the world, take it from me, I promise it will be beautiful!

Thank you for reading, come along on the adventure of life and appreciate the big nothings And small somethings.
