Why Take a Step When You Can Leap?
Why play it safe when having fun is all about taking chances! Every time I put on my spikes I always thought how crazy it is for us runners to enjoy going through so much pain. Is it truly possible to find so much excitement and feelings of accomplishment through so much drain? The answer is yes. Don't let anything every old you back, not even if it's physical pain.

How to Express Yourself
Whether it's through painting or screaming your lungs out inside your garage, expressing yourself is important to you, me, and everyone around in this fragile society. It keeps us together in the worst of times and allows us to come apart in the best of times. Expressing yourself is a must for those that are emotionally pent up, confused, frustrated, and/ or feeling hopeless with any issue at any time. It's helped people come to terms with who they are as a person and it's helped them feel as if they're a better person.

Fear Is Strong, Drive Is Stronger
I have not written in a long time but I needed a better outlet to do it. This last year has been amazing and sucked all at the same time. I have been dumped, broken off with people, lost friends, but I have also discovered a new side of myself that I forgot existed. Eight years ago I picked up my life and moved to Hawaii for school. I was terrified that I would not make friends. I was all alone and I knew no one. It took a few weeks and I found a group of friends that I still consider family. They got me out adventuring. Hiking in places I never would have gone on my own. I learned that some things about myself I never knew existed. I could climb up rocks, swim in rivers, hike mountains... then something changed in me. I got into a funk. I was in a long term relationship, and we lost our selves. I started becoming afraid to do things on my own. I wouldn't even go shopping alone. It was bad. We broke things off and I started to get better... for awhile. But a few months later, I fell into another long term relationship; except this was different. We stayed together for three and a half years, moved across an ocean together.

30 Journal Entries for Self Discovery - Day 29
I can't believe we're on our second to last day. Welcome all to day 29. This is so hard. I'm sad I won't be writing everyday, or rather, I always write everyday, I'm sad I won't be following a prompt and discussing it with all of you following along. Here is another beautiful quote to keep all you awesome people writing: "Always write as if you're talking to someone. It works. Don't put on any fancy phrases or accents or things you wouldn't say in real life." - Maeve Binchy

Strength
What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word strength? Probably a big, muscular man lifting something heavy, or maybe someone who survived cancer? Sure, those are forms of strength, but what about the other forms? The ones we don't see, and maybe aren't so big? A young girl who struggles with depression who chooses to tell her parents instead of taking her own life. A son, who wants to help his struggling family but gets a job instead of stealing. An amputee who, instead of being ashamed of their ailment, goes through therapy to adjust. There is something so important that is involved with all of these examples of strength, and that is help. Sometimes people believe that if you ask for help, that is a sign of weakness. But recognizing when you need help and not seeking it is the real sign of weakness. You can't do everything on your own your whole life. If this were true, humans wouldn't have established ideas like teams, relationships, and even community. We are all individuals living and working together. When things get rough, we are supposed to ask for help and that’s okay! Strength comes in all shapes and sizes. Everything from the superheros we grew up loving, to the bank teller at the local Wells Fargo. To recognize one’s faults and request assistance is not a shame, but to recognize and continue on as ignorant of said faults is just the beginning of a destructive path birthed from prideful damage that will only result in the deterioration of one’s self.

Voice Your Choice
You start pre-kinder then it’s 7th grade and before you know it you’re graduating high school. All our lives we’re expected to live by a timeline. You start school at a certain age and begin college at another but why? Why do we follow this as if it’s the only way we will survive? Life nowadays doesn’t even have meaning. Maybe because I’m becoming an adult or because people are living but not actually living. We live to die but what is all in between matters. It is who you are. Every good deed you did, every mistake you made and all the risks you took, it is all you. So instead of just living to survive, live to feel alive.

So You Have Writer's Block
The cursor keeps blinking on the screen of your laptop. The pen (or pencil if you dig those old school vibes) lays idly on the side of the notebook; sometimes you pick it up, thinking the feel of it will inspire some reflex that sparks up an idea before you lay it back down in defeat. You keep tapping the screen of your phone as you open up a tiny Notes app hoping at least a word will strike you.

30 Journal Entries to Self Discovery - Day 28
Hey y'all! Welcome to day twenty-eight. *Insert feelings about how close we're getting to the end here.* I hope everyone's journal is packed with writing and notes from this journey and I hope it's getting hard to add more. Anyway, here's the quote of the day: "An opening line should invite the reader to begin the story. It should say: Listen. Come in here. You want to know about this." - Stephen King

The Houses of the Zodiac: House #5
Do you know what your birth chart says? Or, do you even know what a birth chart is? Your birth chart is based off of the time, location, and date of your birth. At the time when you were born, every planet and star and thing up there in the universe was in a specific place. Doesn't seem like it matters, but it absolutely does. Your birth chart displays where all those planets and stuff were, and this contributes to the magic that is your personality.
