What to Do When You Hit Rock Bottom
You've lost your job. Your boyfriend dumped you. The car won't start. Every day seems to bring on new stress. You have officially hit your all-time low in life. Could it get any worse? Is this my life now? This moment is considered rock bottom, and it is usually not seen as a blessing. We don't want to ever get to this point but, inevitably, we all hit it at one point in time. I'm here to tell you that, while it sucks, this could be the exact thing you needed. As the saying goes, there is nowhere to go but up.

Relearning You (Pt. 1)
When I was in grade five, I changed schools, it was harder than I had thought it would be. I left behind friends I had made since preschool, teachers I had known since grade one, and forfeited my dreams of one day walking down the school hallways as fearlessly as the seniors did.

The Ditch of Instant Gratification
I am a hedonist in many ways, as I have this constant urge for gratification which often can push me towards grabbing the nearest thing close to me to satiate this need. In the current smart technology age, social media can be one of such things. I don’t know how much time I can sometimes spend on Twitter and Facebook, and the internet in general. I end up often following the trail of links from my social pages, getting lost in the endless environment of cyberspace. My natural curiosity is itself a curse as a hunger for information, insight debates, views on perspectives on all the diverse topics that I am interested in; such as politics, science, business, economics, film, science fiction, and philosophy.

The Guide to Happiness
I think I was around 10 years old. I was an angry child, frustrated with the world and my place in it, full of rage I did not know how to express. I remember laying on my bed, feeling the weight of the world pressing down on me, and I felt an itch in the middle of my back that I just needed to get rid of. So I squiggled and squirmed, kicked the sheets off my bed and let out an exasperated scream I'd been holding in for my whole, entire, very short life.

Dreaming Big Despite the Uncertain Course of Life
I'll travel all the countries of the world before I turn 30. I'll finish my PhD by the time I turn 25. I'll repay all my loans in the next three years so that I can finally start living the way I want. I'll go on my first solo backpacking trip as soon as I juggle to earn enough money for it. But what if I don't earn enough to wander the world? What if I have to take loans to study further and end up paying them back all my life? What if my flight crashes? What if I end up catching some deadly disease and die? What if...

Sick of Your Own Hesitation
For goddamn sake! Just get out and do it already. As you could maybe already tell, I am indeed really upset. I kind of hate how I never do the things I want to do most. You ever think about the fact that you might be sitting at home, as your 40-year-old self, still with the same ideas and dreams? While everyone around you seems to just do it. Like come on, Nike even said it first, just do it. Well, maybe... someday... not today. Fuck.

Delay Isn't Denial
Ever had a plan, its execution strategy and the end result all played out in your mind? That was me back in 2007. I remember the excitement that rushed through my body when I received the letter of acceptance to study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Rhodes University. I was on cloud nine. As the first child, I was going to be the first to sojourn another country and be the first to get a degree. That was a lot of pressure however, I was super excited

Life Isn't Meant to Be Straight Lines
On the road less traveled, life becomes an adventure. We spend so much time planning to live that we miss the opportunity to experience our existence on our terms. If we don't take control, we end up giving it to someone who likely doesn't have your highest and best interest in mind.

5 Ways to Fall in Love... With Yourself
"Love thyself." Though succinctly put in the Bible the majority of world religions hold the very same sentiment but in varying forms. This call for self-love happened long before the current deluge of books, films, talks centred around this very topic. The over saturation can push some to become cynical and tired of hearing such messages. Totally understandable. However, I would argue that the downside of this is that people ignore a legitimate stance; one should work on loving themselves. This shouldn't be rooted in selfishness or arrogance, rather it should develop from a place if self respect and kindness.

Letter to Self
February 22, 2019 Dear Younger Self, You may not know who I am yet, but you will in a few years if you don’t take this advice to heart. This will help you so much in the future if you take what I have to say to heart.
