Creating Happy
Hello and Happy day, whatever day it is and wherever you happen to be. My name is Debi and I am a Creative… I draw; pencil, pen, ink, marker- greeting card designs, prints, book illustrations. I paint; watercolor, acrylic, alcohol ink. I write; books and posts, I published a children’s book that I wrote and illustrated. I develop products; Share the Love Packs, Feng Shui Kits, (I know there’s more but the specifics escape me). And I teach art; private and group lessons to kids, painting and drawing practices to adults. I have been doing something with my art and other creations for over 30 years. I also really 'Injoy' all things Happy. And as I live intentionally, I named my business Creating Happy.

A Message for the Younger Generation
I’m a bicentennial baby. Yes, I was born in 1976. My parents are Army vets. Yes, I said Army vets. I grew up in a caring household. My parents weren’t overly strict, but they also didn’t let me do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. They set boundaries to ensure that we were safe. They taught me morals and values. I had a healthy balance of dependence and independence. I knew that if I wanted any success in life that I would have to work at myself. Nothing was handed to me. My parents taught me how to be responsible for myself and for my actions. If I did something wrong, I had to own up to it. There was no “all inclusion” for things. If we wanted to be a part of something we had to try out for it, or meet certain criteria for it. When I go to work, I know that I have to perform my best if I want to be a good employee. I’ve noticed that things aren’t like that with the younger generation. I’ve noticed myself clashing a lot with the younger adults of today.

That Valuable Commodity Called Time
If there is one thing I’ve realized in my old age, it’s that patience in any given situation is not easy. Everything is about timing for me. I tend to think that it may be because, subconsciously, I feel like time is something no one really has to simply waste. And, the quicker I can get something done, the closer I’ll be to reaching my goal, satisfying my appetite, and quenching my thirst. I view time as a priceless commodity that should be used wisely by everyone. I’ve learned through simple observation and from personal experience that when it’s time for life to end for an individual, it ends, simple as that.

The Science Behind Making and Breaking Habits
So this morning I woke up at 4:30 this morning—What The Fedunkerary!! Why? Who knows… but one minute I was dead to the world, and the next I was awake and alert as a meerkat on sentry duty! I could have rolled over and attempted to snooze until my alarm went off, but I knew I’d wake up later feeling groggy and disorientated—don’t ask me why, but it happens every time.

Master Mind Series (Pt. 2)
Welcome back to the Master Mind Series Today we are focusing on the subconscious mind. This portion of the min is known as the emotional mind. It's the bottom half of the mind diagram from the Introduction To The Mind article in the beginning of this series. The conscious mind is so fascinating and equally powerful. As humans, we are emotional creatures, and being such, emotions drive our actions that ultimately control our results. The subconscious is the portion of the mind that controls all of our habitual behavior, and most of our behavior is habitual. Think about your morning routine, when you wake up, chances are you do just about the same thing, in the same way, every single day. How many other aspects of your life are you living in a similar way? The emotional mind, unlike the conscious mind, has no ability to reject information. It functions much like a sponge and absorbs every thought, word, feeling and stores it. Let's think of the conscious mind as the internet, and the subconscious mind as the "Deep web" an ocean, vast of hidden information that we have collected consciously or unconsciously throughout our entire life, especially as a child.

Finding Your Flow State
What’s one thing that all professional athletes, musicians, artists, writers, and anyone devoted to their craft have in common? They have all achieved a ‘flow state’, which is difficult to relate to unless you are fully immersed in terms of what you are pursuing, and you truly enjoy what you are doing. The flow state is elusive for most people, because they either haven’t found their passion in life, or haven’t put the time in yet to get better through consistent practice or play. The flow state is a higher state of being, because for a point in time, your concentration is matched with your intensity, producing a beautiful result.

6 Notes of Encouragement For the Blossoming Writer
1. If writing is your passion, then do not stop pursuing it. Even when you feel like you are not improving, even when you feel like you have lost inspiration, even when you feel like "maybe you weren't supposed to be a writer." And I say "when" (not "if") because you will have moments like these. But it's in those moments that you must write. Even if it's just one sentence. Or write about how you are feeling. There is always a reason to write, there is always something in your brain that needs to be said, to be shared, to be written. Don't ever stop writing. It's your passion. Your adventure.
