How Regret Has Taught Me More About Self-Care as a Business Owner
The time I took recovering from my burn out gave me a chance to see things from a different perspective. It gave me a chance to separate my regret, guilt, and what I thought of as short comings from my actions. In essence, I was separating my emotions from my actions so I could define them clearly. I needed to identify my motivators and my drivers.

Things to Do When You’re Feeling Sad
Hello. As you may know, it is not uncommon for people to suffer from mental health disorders. I, for one, am no stranger to social anxiety and depression. They go hand-in-hand, and to me, it always feels like no one understands the way I feel.

How Practicing Better Self Care Is Saving Our Lives
I’m sitting here curled up with my laptop, working through some of my tasks, with Young Living Sacred Mountain essential oil diffusing, and I’m feeling awakened. Ready to share part of my story. I feel pulled to be upfront, open, and to truly focus on connecting with you. A few months ago, I had the beautiful opportunity to partner up with my friend Nikki from LoveMeTreatMe to work on a Sunday self-care series on my blog DoFiveThingsADay. We created this series because Nikki and I share a deep understanding that there is such a priority for self-care in our lives—that our lives actually depend on it.

Life Is Not About Winning
The sooner you realize that life is not about winning everything, the more successful you will be. If you try to win every argument you find yourself in the middle of, that is just extra time you are wasting on your ego, rather than actually spending that time living. Now don't get me wrong, winning an intense argument with your partner or parents may feel good. However, that does not mean it is worth-while. Life is all about living in the moment and experiencing new things, and how is anyone going to do that if all they are thinking about is how to win the next argument or battle? A small competitive game can be great fun between a group of friends, but when does that competition become too much? When it gets to the point you are risking things for a competition, it has become too much. Whether the risk is money to the point that you are living paycheck to paycheck, or a friendship, it has become too much for you to keep in your life. If you grow to like the feeling of winning to the point it becomes all you think about or you are fixated on winning any disagreement that comes your way, you have gone too far. Life is not about winning everything, but learning how to roll with the punches. At some point, to grow up, you have to realize that not everything will always go your way and that often you have to settle. Life is about compromise. Many great things that come to you come from compromise. Life is full of hardships, in which you have to accept that you cannot force things to go your way.

Finding Your Inner Beauty
Finding your inner beauty sometimes isn't about how you look in the mirror, how others see your true character, or what you do to prove yourself. Sometimes your inner beauty is what you do to care for yourself, nurture, love, and invest in yourself. My new mantra is "Why can't I?"

10 Ways to Practice Self-Care That Aren't Pampering
I know we all love our facial masks and bubble baths… and we love curling up with a great book or buying ourselves little gifts and treats time to time. And though, those are important for us and our self care (because you should totally be giving yourself some extra love and spoiling yourself sometimes)—there is much more to making sure you are taking good care of yourself.

Men's Inner Struggles
To all the guys out there, we all know that saying, "toughen up!" In the end, we still, deep down, have that vulnerability in ourselves that we don't let out. It is to say that holding back emotions can cause many mental and physical issues later on in life. It's at that time now, in this generation, it's ok to open up and let go of the anger, the weight, and learn to forgive those who have done us wrong; but most importantly, loving ourselves.

Why Setting Boundaries Is Important
Boundaries. This is something I give a lot of thought to, something I’ve quite struggled with in the past—in relationships, in friendships, with family, and at work. It’s led me to feeling drained and burnt out many times. I know setting boundaries with those we care about can be tough, in fear of letting them down, but if we don’t it can lead to complete exhaustion, and even resentment.

Finding Your Inner Peace
Finding your inner peace is difficult in our crazy world... but not impossible. I love the quote, "Don't let people draw you into their storm; bring them into your peace." It signifies a chaos that surrounds us and slowly engulfs our good intentions. The more we fight it, the more we suffer. But if we submit to it and let our world spin out of control, naturally we stop caring because then we can stop hurting. It happens to the best of us.

Finding Self-Motivation to Work Hard
If someone can describe you as a hard worker, then you are a great person—or maybe you are a lucky person. Some people struggle literally to become hard workers, while others are just comfortable being lazy. The question is, can anyone embrace hard working even if they do not feel like doing anything? The answer is yes, and the best way to do this is through self-motivation. If you always tend to curse your Monday mornings, clinging on the fun you had over the weekend, and unable to imagine a busy week ahead, then this is your piece. These self-motivation tips will make you become a hard worker, who is not only excited about the weekend but also the busy days in the workplace.

My Soldier
Have you ever been afraid, truly afraid of something? I don’t mean the jump up, adrenaline-pumping fear you get from a roller coaster or a scary movie. No, my fear is a true, bone-deep, tear gathering, loss of muscle control fear. It’s so pervasive, so much a phobia, that facing it can literally leave me in hysterical tears unable to move a single muscle. And yet, I have faced it; several times. I have faced it, and in facing it I have learned about trust and what I’m willing to do to get the perfect picture.

The Anatomy of Optimism
Optimism and hope are two closely tied psychological concepts which dictate how we relate to life’s unexpected hardships. Being optimistic means believing—in the face of uncertainty—that there is a favorable solution to get out of the problems and obstacles we might be facing.
