The Tsunami-ed Life (Part 1)
What does it mean to be tsunami-ed? Truthfully nothing, it's not a verb but it is an appropriate metaphor of the destruction resulting from a life-altering event... an event that forever changes you and how you see your world. Experiencing that, living in its aftermath, is what I mean when I say tsunami-ed.

The Art of Digesting One's Experience
Where I'm from, May heralds the deep of spring: cold rains and riotously colored blossoms. Evening comes, and the sun lingers on and on. I think that was the hardest thing, at first, coming to Australia. Spring had been blossoming into summer—and suddenly, upon landing among the submergent coastlines of Sydney, at 4:30 PM, the light was gone. It was as though night were a blanket pulled over my eyes. No cold air to tell my body it was winter—just a daily, evening blindness.

Simple Self Confidence Tips for Anyone
In about every facet of our lives, self-confidence is highly crucial, yet many individuals are struggling to discover it. Unfortunately, this can be a vicious cycle: it can be hard for individuals who lack the self-confidence to succeed. Individuals whom are confident are adored by other people and inspire trust in others. They endure their worries face-on and are more likely to be natural risk-takers. They understand that whatever barriers they may encounter, they have the capacity to overcome almost anything. Also when situations don't go so excellently, self-confident individuals tend to see their life in a favorable light and are typically content and respectful of themselves.

Existential Beauty
This process between heart and mind can be pretty messy. I have always struggled with uncertainty and have needed things to make sense. But I have been learning these past few years that things mostly do not make sense, that there isn't always visible or easily detectable rhyme or reason. There is logic there, however, if we look deeper, but it won't stand out or fit easily into the perception of the world that we each create. It won't always feel nice or comfortable either. Life isn't fairytales. It doesn't work out (mostly) the way in which we imagine it to. I have learned that courage is choosing to face and understand it anyway. When we are suffering, we benefit most by feeling it so that we can then know times of joy when they arise. There is no answer or fairy godmother, just realness in its rawest form. Each moment has the potential for learning.

Reflections on Life
Today I turned 67. I found myself thinking about my life, the decisions I have made and the consequences of each. I think hormones are to blame for most of my problems, those pesky little urges you get when you see the opposite sex and your eyes are popping out of your head. I believe I was born loving men because when I was just a little girl I remember getting crushes on boys who were a lot older than me. They were maybe as old as seven or eight, but I was only four. Oh, how those pesky hormones ran my life. I believe out of the five marriages I've had, most of them were hormone-driven. Problem is when that urge wears off, and it will, the person you are left with is neither your best friend nor are they someone you have a lot in common with. That leads to boredom and mistrust which can cause all sorts of problems. I never stuck around longer than three years, except for my last husband. He and I were together for about 18 years if you count the times we lived together. I did hate it when he introduced me as his wife and we had already gotten the divorce, but he finally got the message.

How to Strengthen Your Creative Muscle
As someone who is currently working to improve my craft in all aspects of the word, I thought it would be beneficial to share how I do this in the hopes of helping others who might not be sure where to start. I have likened creating to a muscle because it is exactly that; if you do not regularly train a muscle, atrophy occurs just like if you do not consistently create you start to lose that muscle memory or creative memory. This article will cover three subjects; imitation, practise, and innovation.

Making Time for What Matters
Y'all, life is crazy. If someone had told me 12 years ago when I first started the married-with-kids chapter of my life that I would have three (almost four) kids—and four dogs, that I would have started multiple businesses, have been broke almost as much as "wealthy," and have moved more than 10 times in 12 years, I would have thought it impossible to fit so much living into such a short span of time.

Rise and Grind: 8 Morning Habits for the Ambitious
When asked what the key to success is, everyone will tell you something different. Hard work. Determination. Vision. Ambition. None of them are wrong. There is no right or wrong answer because success means something different to everyone. The man who puts on his work boots every morning has a different drive in life than the man who wears a suit and tie. The stay at home mom has different goals than the career woman. Does that mean one is less successful than the other? No. Put all money, all materialistic things aside because they are superficial. Success isn’t all that. It’s achieving an aim or purpose in life. It’s following your ambition. So, no matter who you are, where you come from, what you do for a living, everyone has the power to get where they want to be, and become who they want to be. See, successful people have a high sense of self, that’s why accomplishing their goals comes naturally to them. The rest of us just need a little boost in the right direction. So let’s get started.

The Veil of Fear
We all have enemies in our lives. Though these enemies can be large for some and small for others, there is one that hinders all too many of us. It takes us hostage in our brightest hours to keep us from achieving our hopes and dreams. It makes us hostage in our darkest moments to keep us from ever seeing anything better. It makes us hostages when it matters most, and even when it doesn’t matter at all. Do you know what the worst part is? It makes us hostages, and for some, we can never get away.
