Knowledge is Power
We have power in our actions, don’t forget that.

Im abruptly awaken by the familiar sounding of my alarm, pushing me to ready myself for a new day. I start thinking “here we are, another day... another...” I refrain from the easily chosen negative patterns of thoughts. Redirecting, I think “Another day, another opportunity to be the good in this world.”
It’s the little things that people over look.
It takes no time to create sunshine in someone else’s miserable storm.
A smile from across the room, an extra moment embracing a hug, a compliment. We can physically change their day, but it doesn’t stop there.
If you put only a little thought into your everyday actions it’s easy to create happiness for one another.
I walked into her room excepting to see the norm. Her thin white hair entangled in curlers, housecoat wrapped tightly around her fragile body. Tea cup in hand and that smile. The smile that can bring one out of the deepest of depths.
I was stopped in my tracks when I entered, as I do every morning. My senses knew before I. My body just knew.
My heart fell heavy and my eyes started to swell with tears. It couldn’t be. I didn’t want to believe it.
There she was, sitting in her chair looking more peaceful than ever. I knew she was gone.
I was heartbroken, overwhelmed with anger and sadness. Taking a deep breath I reminded myself of something my dear lady told me everyday, “kindness, compassion, and love it’s what makes the world go round.”
When the commotion was over and we awaited the arrival of her beloved family.
My coworkers and I took it upon ourselves to ready our lady for the day. We curled her hair, applied her favorite lipstick, sprayed her signature perfume, and dressed her in her go to outfit of beauty.
Her family and loved ones gathered by her side. They said their goodbye and gave their last kisses. I’ll never forget the heaviness my heart felt in that moment.
But just like my lady was there with us her youngest granddaughter said “kindness, compassion, and love it’s what makes the world go round.” She continued to say “my Grammy and I know she was loved and cared for right till the very end. You took the time and effort to make her look like she always did, the way we all want to remember her. This will be a day we never forget, but with sadness we are given your love and kindness. That will never ever be forgotten.”
“You did you job, and you did it well. Thank you.” - Grammys granddaughter
