writing...... Someone once told me that to be passionate is what makes humans different from other living beings. But my passion is many things. Why must I choose one thing? However, my ultimate goal…I want to lead by example; to change the world to be a better place-one step at a time. And I hope my children will keep my legacy going. To make a change, risks have to be taken, and you cannot fear being in the public's eye. The things you love doing and you want to see made better you just have to go out and do it-regardless of what anyone else thinks or does. Just listen to your heart. That’s why even though the past 4 years have been rough on my family, I haven’t given up on our dreams. My husband’s deepest desire is to start a restaurant. Mine is to create THAA and to invite others to join me on my journey via Youtube, blogs, and vlogs. In other words Trisha’s Haven for Archaic Animals. When I achieve it, it will be the largest and most successful Endangered Animal Breeding facility in the world. Possibly even bring back human caused extinct species to rejoin the world-like the dodo and thylacine. I know achieving this won’t be easy-but it’ll be worth it.
And I know is it all starts with one step in the right direction. Through my endeavors as I strive to achieve this dream, I hope to touch the hearts of those who follow along our Journey. And inspire them to be better people and reach for their dreams-even if it is hard. My sons I hope to teach the value of integrity and dedication; and of course, hard work.
Our first steps will be to stabilize our income and buy a home. That way I can start a homestead to practice and help my family become self-sufficient while I return to school to get my degree in biology and animal husbandry, and a minor in forensics. On top of my studies, I will be practicing breeding my livestock and my pure-bred Australian Shepherds to better the breeds. This will help me establish standards, and prove I can have a breeding routine and a regimen I can stick to as I expand my world through studies. All while raising my sons to be gentlemen and the meaning of discipline.
Once my schooling is finished and I have established self-sufficiency within my family, I can move on to the next phase-beginning my facility. Depending on where I am in life, that will consist of either getting licensed to breed certain endangered species on my own property OR I will purchase a piece of land and begin renovations to implement my plans. In order to be the most successful and largest Endangered Animal Breeding facility I intend to use self sufficiency to my advantage as well as mimic the wild habitats in which the species I breed will be loving as closely as possible. I know this means that my facility will actually function as part of a chain of facilities located strategically over the world based on the climate and the species I desire breeding.
In each habitat, there will be cameras hidden in such a manner that it will not disturb the animals within. This will allow me to educate the world and teach people more in depth about the behavior of the animals in my care. And perhaps resolve a lot of misunderstanding of their species. This way we can also observe natural behaviors as the cameras will be recording 24/7 but will notify us of any prominent movement of that of our animal in the cameras.
I intend to give the animals as close as possible to the same amount of space they would occupy in the wild as a territory and provide them with ample means of prey or scavenging foods (i.e. fruits, vegetables, bugs, nuts) naturally within their territories by releasing them and creating an ecosystem within their giant enclosure. For their safety though, this will be monitored and any medical care will be administered as necessary. I will have two territories for each species-one for males and one for females. Unless of course the species requires males and females to live together such as in a herd setting or as a mated pair. Then exceptions will be made.
The idea will be to have a chain link fence in-between the territories and allow interaction without them harming the other. This way when the female comes into season I can simply open a gate and allow them to unite for reproduction and then separate once more. Of course, this is for solitary animals such as the Tiger. Herd animals can be allowed to cohabitate as they would in nature.
Then if the female needed expanded territory to rear her young, we would expand her enclosure to accommodate her needs and allow her to raise her young as naturally as possible. However, I would interfere very little, by means of emergency medical care and helping them become sensitive tp the threat of poachers using non-lethal means so they learn to recognize scents, sounds, suspicious set ups, etc. that may impair their chances of survival in the wild. And when the time comes, the offspring will be released into their natural habitat with the knowledge they need to survive and the mother too, if she was simply needed to remain for rehabilitation.
But I wouldn’t be limited to large animals. I would include reptiles, amphibians, insects and so much more. Each modified to better suit the needs of each. I would have an insect house and an aviary. Of course a greenhouse too for growing their natural foods and a ranch to raise live prey. And of course, I have to incorporate my husband’s dream of a restaurant. If we hadn’t established it already, I’d make it so my husband had a location at one of my facility chains alongside and educational center where animals that could never be released back into the wild would become ambassadors for their species.
This way, my facility could obtain funding in additional ways and my husband would have a constant flow of customers to his restaurant and plenty of feedback to improve and grow his business however he desired. My children would also be raised around animals and people and I would be sure to donate to those in need and organizations for the poor and needy. I hope to found my own charity to help those of the minority receive aid and advocating where they may need it yet society turns them away for one reason or another.
I hope to encourage volunteers and use my animal ambassadors to help act as therapeutic stimulation for cases of individuals who may need it. When I die I hope to leave behind this as my legacy and if my children continue it then so be it. Otherwise, I hope someone else just as dedicated as I will take over.
But the journey to this goal will ultimately be filled with heartache and mistakes as I learn and grow. I want people to follow me to experience it together. So they can be a part of the changes I want to see in the world. Thwy will ne a part of the ups and downs and even the excitement as my family grows and expands with it-and be a support system to not just my family but to others who may need it within the community I hope to establish. To bring awareness not just to animals, but all people in need all over the world. I know this will fulfill my life’s ambitions. It will complete me to know I made a difference in a good way and will allow me to feel as if I have completes the purpose designed for me in this life. That I bettered the earth in some way or another and influenced others to follow their dreams-no matter the obstacles they may face.
