For 2026 — Listen To Your Calling

Life calls many of us in ways we can’t comprehend. It called me through dreams I had that warned, guided, and protected me. I didn’t answer.

In a conversation with Dr. Gabriella Korosi, I was inspired by our upcoming book about Dreams and Callings.

At this time of the year, everyone starts paying more attention to their lives and purpose, wondering whether they are living the way they should. Some want to know or live what their true calling is. Often, life calls, but many people don’t listen. Some hear, but don’t like what they see facing them. Others are afraid because of how family and friends will perceive them. Some respond, and some are just terrified of the possibilities.

Being yourself is happiness that no one can take away from you.

As a child, I had weird dreams I couldn’t understand, which I saw played out in my life and in the lives of others. I think more deeply and have always been aware as a child. I understood life and humanity even as a child.

At about eight or nine years old, I got sick, and my mother sent one of my sisters to buy Children’s Caffenol to reduce my fever. When she didn’t return in time, she sent another one of my sisters to find her. When none of them returned, she went to look for them. As I lay on the bed, the door was wide open, and I saw a tall, headless man dressed in black pants, a white shirt, and a black tie, walking towards me. He carried a large leather grip/suitcase.

We lived at the front of the tenement yard. He reached up to me, bent his shoulders as if to look down on me, and just disappeared as he appeared.

I told my mother what I saw when she came. I learned that his name was Dr. Stockhausen, and he broke his neck falling off a building and died. He would come every week at this time with his clothes for Auntie Dean, who lives upstairs, to wash and iron them for him.

That was more than 40 years ago, and that incident has never left my heart or my head. I often wondered why he appeared to me. Over the years, I had many dreams that guided and protected me.

About ten years ago, I had a dream that a police officer shot my husband in one of the old neighborhoods we used to live in. Weeks later, he went to visit his mother. That old neighborhood was next to where she lived.

In my culture, we say dreams don’t walk straight. I remembered and tried calling him, and no one answered. So, I prayed.

At his mother’s home, she was in an altercation with one of her tenants. Seeing her son, the tenant feared for her life and left quickly. He remembered my dream and went to the nearest police station. When he got there, he saw the tenant. When he explained himself, the Police officer in charge said, “We were coming for you. She said you pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her. We were coming to kill you!”

My husband gulped down his shock. The police run her out of the station, asking, “If he did what you said, would he show up here?”

One of my daughters said I am an obeah woman because many times, my dreams turn out to be true. When she was pregnant, I dreamed about seeing lots of fish. In my culture, dreaming about fish means someone in your family is pregnant. She didn’t want to do an ultrasound to determine the sex of the child. I had a dream that she was going to work, and a beautiful five-year-old child was walking to the bus stop with her. I told her she is going to have a girl.

My granddaughter came out as I described her three months later.

Yes, this ability is frightening. It’s scary to predict what can and will happen, then see it unfold before you. It hasn’t stopped, but I try to avoid everything and everyone. I was told to go somewhere with no Cellphones pr distraction and reconnect to my dreams and abilities. It hurts to see life unfolds from what you dreams and many times you can’t save them. This hurts. It hurts too to know the outcome om many things you can predict from dreams and no one listens.

So, I write about things everyone can identify with and see. I call it common sense.

If you are not afraid, listen to life’s call in 2026 and do what you must. Don’t allow fear to take control.

When life calls, don’t allow fear to prevent you from responding.
