Even Jollof Rice Started As Ordinary Water
Don't Lose Hope
*Even Jollof Rice Started as Ordinary Water — Don’t Lose Hope
Let me be honest with you, my dear reader.
Sometimes life looks at you and says,
“You see that success you’re dreaming of? LOL. Not today.”
And next thing you know, you’re sitting on your bed, wearing wrapper, chewing groundnut, and questioning your existence. You even start asking deep questions like:
“Am I a joke to my destiny?” “Did I press the wrong life settings during creation?”
But hold on — breathe small. I came to give you hope. Real, undiluted hope. The type that slaps sense into you while making you laugh like you inhaled onions.
Because guess what?
Even Jollof Rice started as ordinary water.
Yes, water. H2O. Liquid that has no color, no flavor, no purpose except to wet things. But when you mix it with rice, tomatoes, onions, pepper, oil, and fire — boom! Delicious magic.
So why are you crying just because your life looks like plain water right now?
Everybody Starts as “Nothing Special”
Do you know what raw beans looks like before it becomes moi moi? Uglier than heartbreak. Do you know what yam looks like before it’s pounded? Tired and ashy. Do you know what plantain looks like before frying? Confused banana.
But after preparation? Ehhn! They turn to national treasure.
So maybe your life is just in the preparation stage. Maybe you're still soaking, boiling, and being stirred. That doesn't mean you’re not going to be delicious one day.
Don't lose hope just because the fire is hot now. Even stew needs fire to enter flavor mode.
You’re Not Late — You’re Just Marinating
Sometimes we look at other people and start panicking:
“Chinedu just bought Benz.” “Shade is now CEO of 5 companies.” “My former classmate is doing giveaway on Instagram, and I’m here calculating data.”
Relax. You’re not useless. You’re not cursed. You’re just… marinating.
Some people are microwave success — fast, hot, but easy to burn. You? You’re slow-cooked destiny. You’re pepper soup on low heat. When you finally land, e go choke.
Hope is Free. Collect Yours Now.
You see this thing called hope? It's free of charge. Zero Naira. Just take it like pure water on a hot day. It doesn’t mean you should lie down and do nothing. It means while you're working small, you still believe big.
Jobless today? You can be boss tomorrow.
Broke this morning? Bank alert may enter this weekend.
Confused now? Clarity may hit you like thunder soon.
But you must be awake to receive it. Not sleeping by 10am with mouth open and one leg on the wall.
Me Too, I Wanted to Quit
Let me gist you. There was a time I wanted to quit everything. Writing, dreaming, bathing — everything. I looked in the mirror and said:
“Maybe I should just go and learn how to fry puff-puff and stop dreaming.”
But something in me whispered:
“Guy, calm down. Your Jollof is still cooking.”
So I stayed. And now I’m here, writing this for you, hoping you’ll laugh your way into your breakthrough
Final Word from the Chef of Hope
Dear reader, life may not look sweet right now. It may taste like unripe pawpaw and smell like bad WiFi.
But don’t give up yet.
Jollof rice did not become Jollof in 2 minutes. It took oil, pepper, timing, mistakes, and even a little burning at the bottom of the pot. But in the end? Everyone rushes it.
Your story can still be sweet. Your life can still be beautiful.
So don’t throw the spoon away yet.
Keep cooking. Keep believing. Keep laughing.
Because one day, someone will look at your life and say:
“Ah! Who prepared this destiny? The thing sweet die!”
