Dream Big, Share Smart

Many are enjoying year-end holidays now.

But since success doesn’t take holidays, and neither should our dreams.. so, here I am posting something again so as not to lose momentum.

As we plan for the new year 2025, many of us as seasoned achievers or just a beginner, are excited about our dreams and tend to share with anyone who lends an ear. During the year-end gathering, holiday celebration, casual chats and so on.

But here’s the thing – big dreams need big protection. Just sharing them with the wrong people or at the wrong time can impact even the most exciting plans.

Yes or no?

Who We Share Our Dreams With Matters

If we are extroverts, we may feel it’s natural to share our goals with anyone.

If we are introverts, we may feel it’s okay to share them with just some selected people.

No matter which category we fall under, the plain truth is: Not everyone will understand us or support our vision.

And sometimes, their responses sting.

“Are you sure you can do it?”

“Do you have the means to make it happen?”

“You don’t have the experience.”

“You’re too young/too old for that.”

"Have you run a sanity check?"

Sound familiar?

Such comments can make us second-guess ourselves and or even abandon our dreams 😔

Hence, that is why safeguarding our goals is important. We can still share but share wisely.

The Power of Strategic Sharing

All is not lost when we share our goals, as long as we do it strategically.

With the right people, sharing creates accountability and makes us feel... accountable, of course, and motivated.

I am sure we have experienced the feeling when someone is rooting for us, right? It feels like we could go to the moon and be back in a day! Haha. Pardon my out-of-this-world analogy.

Accountability aside, sharing smartly safeguards our dreams and hearts. It helps keep the vibe around our goals positive while protecting our hearts from any negativity or feeling discouraged.

Dream Right With A Vision Board

Some say that sharing isn’t our thing, or if we are looking for a personal way to stay focused, consider a vision board.

Yes, we can think of it as our personal dream sanctuary. Oh I love the word 'sanctuary'. It makes me visualize our vision board as a space where we fill up with awesome images, quotes, numbers or reminders that inspire us!

The best part is... more than just interesting visuals, they train our brain to recognize opportunities that align with our goals. We have all heard the power of the subconscious mind, right?

More interestingly, this vision board keeps our dreams alive and safe from external criticism. Haha.

So, keep it visible... just to us 😉

By the way, our vision board doesn’t have to be physical only. It can be digital as well.

Hang it in our workspace or save it on our phone? Whatever works for us.

But don’t just visualize, take action.

No action, no gain!

The DAT Formula For Success

For Muslims, I’d like to add another powerful approach.

The DAT formula. Doa (pray to God), Action it and Tawakkul (trust in God).

It helps in achieving goal realization by acknowledging while we plan, God is the Master Planner. Our efforts, along with trust in God, helps us accept the situation when things don’t go as planned. Instead of being knocked out (K.O.), we’ll be just fine (O.K.). InsyaAllah.

So, dream big, pray hard, take action and practice tawakkul. InsyaAllah things will turn out well.

Success Starts With Us

Nobody achieves success by just dreaming.

Actioning, strategizing, visualizing, persistence and smart decision-making along with embracing the DAT formula should be part of the package in making big dreams work.

It’s okay if some goals weren’t met in 2024. We don’t have to always finish the year strong. What matters more is consistently striving to improve and do better.

Let’s make 2025 a remarkable year —one where dreams transform into reality.
