Dear Baby Girl

Dear Baby Girl,

Oh, if only I had magical powers that would allow you to see yourself through my eyes. If only I could show you what I see; all that you are right this very moment; all that went into your creation; all that you will become; all that has been endured and healed in the womb that created and birthed you — the women who have lived just for you to be. Here. Now.

If only I could show you the thread that runs from your heart, through your mothers heart, through your grandmother’s heart, and deep through the hearts of our ancestors that you now hold in the palm of your tiny little hand. You are here, brand new, and on the leading edge of creation. God embodied. A soul of pure light not yet privy to the ways of the world. But you better believe, sweet baby girl, that you will learn them. Because you will change them.

If only I could show you that you come from an ethereal place of pure potentiality, and how you can still practically dip your toes in it and go back to that place with ease if you close your eyes. You would see all of that and try your hardest to remember because, through my eyes, you would know that you might grow to forget only to have to remember again. And lest you do forget, what you will remember deep inside is that there is always a way back home. And you will go on to find many ways back home because you know, sweet girl, that life is not truly lived without being able to come home.

If only I could I would show you that the love of your mother, your sisters, your aunts, and all of your ancestors lives in your eyes, embodied perfectly by you for all of time — preserved, omnipresent, and changing the world one deep stare at a time. You would see how so much of their pain will be remedied through your existence. You would see how by just simply being, you heal deep through that thread that connects us all. You would see their pain transform to joy and their struggles to wisdom. You would see how very unique you are in so many fascinating ways, and how it will take your whole long and beautiful life to uncover them all, and maybe not even then! You would see endless possibilities of life manifested through your big stormy eyes.

If only I could show you that your pains will shape you, bend you, mold you, but never will they break you. You would see that your strength is immutable, that it comes from deep within, inexhaustible and rooted in the spirit that we share — just hold tight to that thread, my dear. Your body will change, your mind will evolve, but your spirit will always be just as it is, whole and perfect, just as you are.

If only I could show you that you have graced us in this world to provide healing we don’t yet know we need. You would see that even though the world isn’t ready for you yet, it will be by the time you come to know who you are and what you are here to do. By the time you uncover your true essence and are ready to birth it into the world, you will be embraced with open minds and open hearts.

If only I could, I would show you who you will grow to become. A friend, a lover, an artist, a healer, amongst many things. I would show you the moments in which you discovered your soul essence and began to embody it more and more until that was all that was left of you. You would see how beautifully your life unfolds the more you come to understand yourself as the narrator of your own story. You would see it, my love, and you would move through life without fear and worry.

If only I could, I would remind you to relish in the moments of joy without abandon. I would tell you to seek connections that fulfill you and art that inspires and uplifts you. I would remind you to love with your whole heart, especially yourself. I would tell you not to waste a single moment on anything in this world not meant for you, be it people, places, or things. I would remind you to trust your feelings, to trust yourself, to always follow your heart.

If only I could, I would. But baby girl I could never dare rob you of your life’s experience to learn and grow into this knowing yourself. So I will not. Instead, I will stay with you always in this ethereal space that we share. I will guide you. I will love you without condition. I will give you signs and intuitive insights whenever and wherever you are ready to heed them. I will forever and always be accessible to you as you find your many ways back home. Follow the string. I am here. I am you. We are in this together.
