DAILY DOSE OF DEPRESSION

A Broken Pattern

By Prosper JohnsonPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

They say birds of a feather flock together, so why should the things we allow our brain to absorb everyday be any different? Time and time again we sit back and wonder, why we are the way we are. You may have already asked yourself "who am I" or "whats my purpose of being here", but still fail to answer the question. Do you know why ? The answer is clear to see, but its not visible to the nature of your vision.

Just like those birds you thought were so cool and down to ride with you whenever, then turned out to be the people low-key hating and praying on your downfall. Its literally the same thing. You didn't know the people you were calling best friend really had it in for you, and I don't blame you. You set yourself up because you made a judgment call based on what you saw. Yes people hide their true colors all the time and even more people fall victim to trusting them. Im not saying don't trust people but simply don't rely on your eyesight for all the answers.

Our brain is ran by social media allowing it to determine whats acceptable and what isn't. We open apps and dive deep into the lies we see based on a post that "anyone" in this world could've made. We watch as if we have no power and then we compare it to our life. "KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK". Depressions at the door. Now you're sad because you think you're special and that your life should be different, and all you can do about it is scroll to the next video in hopes to uplift your spirit.

Every single video, song, picture, movie is designed to make you feel some type of way. It doesn't matter what it is, it captures your emotion and pulls you in closer. It makes you want to feel that emotion more. These feelings aren't always good. Social media is a simple fast way to trap your mind around the things you think you like. You don't know who you are, so how do you know what you like? Think of this. Have you ever listened to a sad song on a day you were happy? Then all of a sudden you're reminiscing about a time when you weren't so happy. Its because its mind control. What we allow more of our brain to take in is what type of energy we are gonna give out. I personally can say Ive felt down and out and literally nothing was bothering me. No problems what so ever, but I had recently just saw a video that changed my entire mood. Social media is a platform for creators and viewers. The creators make all the money while the viewers feel all their pain and cycle through their emotion. Its crazy how a 15 sec video can inspire someone to choose between "Good and Bad".

This problem goes so deep to say your "favorite artist" might not be your favorite artist. They may express what your brain has already been trained to absorb and you cling on to them like they've created gold. I challenge you to really sit back and view the message of your favorite artist then ask yourself do I really like this? That goes for anyones piece of work you're into. Could be music, poems, or anything. We all have a brain , so why not start using it for what really matters.

That time you spent reminiscing on what could've or should've been, you could've been making it happen for yourself. To much time wasted because your mind is trapped due to emotion. Those hours you spent on social media watching everyone else eat could've been your big break. You rather sit on an app "as a viewer" and waste another year of your life or hop on that creator side and make some money from that same app. Its all about perception and how we acquire information. Some see posts and keep scrolling, others see and act on something new.

Don't allow social media to turn you into a brainwashed slave. Use it to your advantage to make your next move. Your greatest asset is yourself so BUILD yourself. BRAND yourself! Its time to become a CREATOR.
