Are people getting stupider? A little snippet from the life of WorldIqTest
Comparing 2023 and 2024, trends in passing IQ.

Hi, I'm Yoshito, and I'm the co-founder of WorldIQTest.com. I'm really passionate about what we do here! We've been developing a comprehensive IQ test experience for several years now, and it's been a real labour of love. Alongside my friend Alan, who is a professional psychologist and psychometrician, we've designed a seamless system where users can take a test for free while still receiving highly accurate results.
Yes, we do have a few ads on our site, but we try to keep them to a minimum so they don't get in the way of your testing. You'll see them at the start of the test and again when you're looking at your results. These ads help us keep the site up to date and make sure we can pay our team members fairly. Unfortunately, we live in a time where everything comes with a cost—no project can be entirely free. Ours is no exception.
We've been working hard for you! We want you to have the best experience when taking your test, so we've introduced a new feature that we think you'll love. Over the past 30 days, more than 50,000 people have completed tests on our platform. Now, we're excited to share insights about the people taking these tests and the results they achieve.
We've got your back! We've got the technical infrastructure to ensure complete anonymity, so you can rest easy. You'll only see consolidated analytical data that we've curated for you. With that in mind, let's dive into analyzing some trends about the human brain. We'll compare the data from November 2024 to the results from November 2023.
First, in 2023, nearly 70,000 individuals took the test, which gave us a more detailed dataset. But I truly believe that even with 10,000 results, we can gain some really valuable insights. So, let's dive into the key indicators.
- Average IQ (under 25 years): 2023: 101.35, 2024: 101.47, Difference: +0.12
- Average IQ (25–40 years): 2023: 102.62, 2024: 101.88, Difference: -0.74
- Average IQ (40–50 years): 2023: 99.78, 2024: 100.12, Difference: +0.34
- Average IQ (50+ years): 2023: 98.42, 2024: 99.85, Difference: +1.43
- American continent: 2023: 100.89, 2024: 100.44, Difference: -0.45
- European continent: 2023: 101.45, 2024: 101.21, Difference: -0.24
- Asia: 2023: 103.68, 2024: 103.71, Difference: +0.03
- Africa: 2023: 96.54, 2024: 98.26, Difference: +1.72
- Oceania and Australia: 2023: 101.37, 2024: 101.91, Difference: +0.54
Looking at this table and comparing the two years, we can see that, overall, the trend is upward, which is great news! IQ scores are increasing, which is wonderful to see. This might be related to the fact that people retake the tests and gradually develop skills to perform better, which is a wonderful thing. It suggests that in the future, the tests may need to become more challenging, which is an exciting prospect!
Let's take a closer look at some specific continents, like the American continent, where IQ has seen a slight decline. This can offer a different perspective. It's important to remember that technological progress can have a negative side too. For example, when we looked at the American continent, we found that in the United States, the average IQ in 2023 was 101.18, while in 2024, it jumped to 184. Meanwhile, in Colombia, the average IQ rose from 98.6 in 2023 to 114 in 2024.Why did we select these two countries? Simply because, over the past month, they accounted for the largest number of test-takers from the American continent. A similarly curious situation is observed in Europe, where, unfortunately, the overall trend shows a decline.
On the other hand, it's so inspiring to see Africa and Asia doing so well! It seems that introducing new technologies is a great way to help these regions flourish. People there are still eager to learn and expand their minds, which is wonderful.
Maybe you're looking for a conclusion. Let me say this: it doesn't matter where you are, what country you are in, or what your IQ is, because IQ is not the most important thing. What really matters is that you develop yourself in the field in which you already have expertise. And I'm here to support you in that!
If you're feeling unhappy in your current field, don't fret! You have the power to change it. Moving on is an important part of life, and it's okay to embrace new opportunities. Don't be afraid to simplify your life. While it's perfectly fine to automate certain tasks with tools like ChatGPT, don't use them as a way to avoid learning or finding information for yourself. Use them more for tasks like automating work processes or handling repetitive tasks.
I just want to wish everyone the best and hope that you all have a wonderful year ahead! I truly believe that our collective IQ is on the rise, and it's so inspiring to see the world becoming a more intelligent place. So, I want to send my warmest wishes to you all for continued growth and success!
