Abundantly More

The first thing to know when looking for abundance in your life is that you attract what you focus on. I'm here to tell you that what you've been focusing on is not what you think. You may think that you've been focusing on having more abundance in your life, but most likely, you haven't been focusing on that at all.

Let me start by explaining. Our brains are wonderful things. They have a conscious and a subconscious. They also have a Reticular Activating System (RAS). Now, if you've never heard of this then let me introduce you to the part of your brain that's going to help you the most. This part of your brain is what is probably standing in your way right now. And, I'm going to help you start re-training this part of your brain. See, the RAS takes what your subconscious and conscious mind think about and tries to find more of it. I'll explain more.

The RAS is the part of our brain that works on it's own to match up our outer world with our inner world. Our inner world is what we think of, both consciously and subconsciously. The definition of the RAS is: a diffuse network of nerve pathways in the brainstem connecting the spinal cord, cerebrum, and cerebellum, and mediating the overall level of consciousness. Now, since the subconscious is a part of consciousness, it's important that we start sending it the right messages. The subconscious works without us having to knowingly think about it, that's where the RAS comes in. It handles both the conscious and the subconscious.

Think about this. You're looking to buy a new car. You know what you want but you haven't found where you want to buy it or one that's the price you're ready to pay. Have you noticed that as you're driving you start to see those exact same cars everywhere? That's your RAS at work. They were always there, you just didn't notice them before. Your RAS knows that you're thinking about that car so it works to make your brain recongnize it when it sees it now instead of ignoring it. The RAS works to filter out the things that aren't foremost on our mind.

I'm sure you're still thinking that you're thinking of abundance. But, I can suure you that you're thinking of your lack of abundance so that's what your RAS is going to continue to have you find more of. This is something that we can change though. It will take some effort on your part.

We know that we can control our conscious thoughts. We can also start to control our subconscious thoughts by recognizing what we're consciously thinking about and saying. Since the RAS likes to give us more of what we're thinking about, then we have to make sure we're sending it the right message for what we want. That's what we're going to be doing.

There's a lot of information out there on the RAS if you start looking. You'll find lots of folks who can tell you all about it. One of my favorite people for information on this is Dana Wilde. You can look her up. She's great. Let's face it, the Internet is full of information if you're willing to go looking. I'm here as one of the people who can help start changing what it is that your RAS is bringing to you. You've heard the saying, "What you think about you bring about." So, I think it's time we started learning what it is that we're actually thinking about. It's usually not what we think.

When we talk to our family and friends, are we talking about how much we have in our life or are we talking about what we don't have in our life? That's the real issue. Our RAS hears us talking about what we don't have and says, "Okay, that's what they want to see more of so I'll just look for more of that to bring their way." So, to change that, we've got to start changing how we're talking and thinking. We have to become aware of it in order to change it. Hopefully, that's what I'm helping you do - become aware.
