Me? Okay, I would love to stay home to keep America safe! Safe from what? My wild and crazy behavior? My talking to everyone I meet? My spending money?

I know, it’s my driving, right? Once you hit the ‘aged’ title, your reflexes aren’t as good as they used to be! Okay, that is it! I will Keep America Safe by not driving so much!

I already cut down from 50,000 miles a year. That was when I was working full-time. I get over 10,000 miles now in retirement and maybe close to 20,000, but not 30 or 40 thousand, and for sure not 50,000.

I used to get more mileage on my motorcycle but last year I got about 300. I hope to get a few more miles this year or I am going to sell my bike. We have a plan to take a trip the first week in July. That will give me way more than 300.

Okay! Will do! Well, wait a minute. Is this absurd Monday advice? Staying close to warm and friendly people makes sense, but if you get too much sunshine you can burn or get burned!

I feel better when the sun is shining. I mostly see the sun as smiling at me. I like people with smiles too. Not everyone has one. Then we just got through the worst of the pandemic and when people took off their masks, they forgot to put a smile back on.

It is improving, and I smile at others even when they don’t smile back! I learned in recovery that I don’t have to like everybody, but I have to love everybody!

How is that for absurd? I found it to be true in my life. Then when going to the water ceremony and praying for the water, we talked about how as humans we are like 76% or 86% percent water, so when we pray for water, we pray for the people too!

Even those presidents we don’t like much!

Breathe in what is to come and breathe out what is behind us! Is that absurd? In a literal sense. Breathing in doesn’t show us the future other than by not breathing we won’t live long enough to see the future.

Breathing out does not immediately get rid of what went before. Take drinking a coffee with a beautiful heart. Drinking coffee gets rid of the beautiful heart, one step at a time. Not our breath unless you are thinking about how we have to be living to move forward!

I have learned that living in the moment is the best way to live. I try not to worry about tomorrow until I am in tomorrow. I can’t do anything about the past except to do what I can to change the past for a better future.

I.E. I broke 3 of the alcoholic family rules for my children. Do not talk/ask questions. Do not trust. Do not feel. My children are not me! They weren’t raised with those rules!

Absurd! When someone tells me not to be afraid, that is when I am extra cautious! Why even give that advice? It is a normal emotion fear. Without good healthy fear, we are in trouble.

I have gotten in the middle of people fighting. I knew they wouldn’t hit me. That is the only reason I did that. Well, maybe I was drinking or high! Either way, some things inhibit fear.

Some people would say, God is there with me and all I must do is holler “God” when I need help. Do you still experience fear? Yes, or I wouldn’t be yelling for help from God! No human can help me out of this mess!

Sometimes the bravest, toughest-looking people have the most fear. People with addiction report when in recovery how full of fear they were about everything! You couldn’t tell by looking at them!
