A thought
A day in lockdown for a 19-year old
How is it that you never think of it yet everyday is a battle? From sunrise to sunset, all you do is fight. Fight with whom?..... well, from your thoughts, from your demons, from yourself, from negativity, from everyone and everything.
How did I get here? I was a little Indian girl in a small down called Dehradun in the mountains up north. Going out for a jog in those chilled mornings, sipping my evening tea talking with dad who's explaining the troubles of life to me or just going out to grab momos with friends. These were very basic things that were just there providing peace and joy, a simple happiness. The biggest dream that I had and still do was to travel the world.
Now, waking up in Melbourne, amongst skyscrapers as high as the snowy mountains of the Himalayas, with a coffee in hand and thinking. Not much has changed, right? The scenic view of sunrise amongst the mountains is replaced by the sky-high buildings, the warm sun is replaced with the sun which causes sunburns and rashes on my skin, the cup of desi chai (Tea) made my mum replaced by a coffee which gives me help in waking up and the chirping of the birds replaced by the car noises on roads and industrial generators with their buzzing noises. But this is all I wanted to do, no?
All my life, just one to get out of home, to learn, to experience and to grow, to travel and to make an identity for myself. Well all that is still happening but I now believe like anybody else that nothing can replace HOME. I just cannot get over the thought of clear blue skies and chirping noises of birds. Laying down in a park nearby looking up at the skies is the nearest thing to home and somehow calms me down. How unfamiliar I was from the idea of stress and anxiety and how a simple assignment deadline from college would put me into a state of panic. Well, this is life I think. The hustles and the struggles, the parties and the funerals, the friendships and the fights, the travels and the claustrophobia- these are some of the various combinations which co-exist in life. So, we just have to go about it and if you finally find satisfaction, at that particular moment, YOU WIN.
Oh, my coffee finished! I think I should start working on the assignment due tomorrow.....
