A Sudden Change of Luck

Arron Caldey felt as though bad luck followed him. He was 29, with no job and still living at home with his parents. Just a year ago, he was making good money at enterprise, but was laid off. It just seemed like one bad experience after another once he lost his job. His car stopped working and he couldn’t find a job to save his life. He didn’t feel like a man at all. He felt like a little boy still living at home with his parents and this affected his self-esteem. One Saturday, Arron was at home sulking in his room when his mom yelled out to him….

“Arron, can you get the package outside the door!”

Arron slowly walked down the stairs without purpose and slowly opened the door. He looked down and picked up a box, but under the box, he saw a little black book. He picked up the black book and headed up stairs to his mom’s room. He handed over both items to his mom and attempted to walk out.

“This is not mine, but thanks for my package love,” stated his mom.

Confused, Arron, took the little black book to his room. When he opened it up, the pages were wrinkled. He opened it to the middle of the book because that was what he usually did with books. On the middle pages was some kind of code. It was a box, with an infinity sign and a circle. The box looked like a package. The thought came to Arron’s mind to go look at the package that he gave his mom. Arron walked over to his mother’s room and asked to see the box that was now opened. He looked at the bottom of the box and he saw the infinite symbol and a circle. Arron thought to himself, what is this circle clue? Then he remembered there was this random circle drawing on the wooden floor under his bed. He raced to his room, grabbed the flashlight from his dresser and looked under the bed. There was the circle outline, and as he looked closer, he saw an infinity sign. He pushed on the left side of the circle and it titled open. Amazed and excited, Arron removed the circular piece of wood and inside was a black envelope. Arron pulled out the envelope and to his surprise, it was full of one hundred dollar bills! Arron counted the money and the total came up to twenty thousand dollars! Arron rolled his body onto the floor, stretched out his long legs and arms with the money in hand and yelled, “Yes!”

Arron’s mother ran to his room to see what was going on.

“Mom, you will never believe this! I just found twenty thousand dollars under my bed! I followed these clues in that black book and it led me to this money!"

Arron’s mom looked at him confused and said, “What?!”

She grabbed the money from his hand and counted it frantically.

“Arron, I can’t believe it! What are you going to do with this money?”

“Well, I am going to invest some of it in stocks and look into getting my own place. I also want to give some to you and dad. I want to figure out how to make this money work for me so that I don’t have to rely on a job.”

“I understand son, but you keep your money. Make the best of it and use it wisely and purposefully.”

Arron’s mom kissed him on the forehead and walked out the door with a gentle smile on her face. Arron sat on his bedroom floor still in disbelief. He had been living in this room for 29 years and never knew this money was right under his bed. He said a prayer and got dressed to head to the bank. He thought to himself, who would have known that a little black book would arrive at my door and change my life? Life is beautiful!
