A Breath of Fresh Air
Moving on from your old self

Everyone at some point has felt like they were at the peak of their lives. Maybe you feel like you peaked in high school and the days of athletics and love from cheerleaders were the things that made you you. Grades? I’m an athlete don’t worry about it. Parents? Love me I’m the star. Just a regular stud since day one.
Maybe it was when you were fresh out of college? And not the angsty scared out of college either. I’m talking educated, bright-eyed, bushy tailed and oh let’s not forget that you have a plan. You’re off to take over the world and have your youthful nativity to guide you. If it doesn’t work pshh I’m young! Cheers me and let’s try this thing again another way.
Or perhaps even, somewhere in your late 20s or 30s when your career had finally put you in the place of wealth that you’d worked so hard to achieve. Kids, house, engagement ring? No time like the present, right? I have worked my ass off it’s time to live!
No matter when it was, the truth is. That time passes and the events of those days are no longer relevant and it’s time to move on from them. It can feel like you’ve lost who you were. The great hero that you viewed yourself as faded into the dark of the past and you wonder if your time will ever come again.
The answer, thankfully, is yes. The world can be yours again. The life that you had where you felt like a shining hero is not something out of reach. It is a mere acceptance that you actually never had it. What you had was acceptance, love and expectations that life would continue to grow in your favor.
Where’d did that sense of security come from? You tell me. Could it be a gorgeous one on your arm? 5-8 zeros in the bank account? The strength of an ox and the explosive power of a lion? Any of those would make me happy but we are human. We can only control what we can control and the life that we want we can have if we’re willing to be patient.
The things we want yo acquire we acquire marginally and with time. Everyday you can grow closer to a life of freedom and peace if you choose it everyday. Thinking back on who we think we were and how great we once had it can feel like a rope around our necks. A tassel that leads us to think we’ve blown it and there is no turning back. That whatever we had then we just don’t now. Whatever IT is. We don’t have it anymore.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. If you don’t have it then who does? It’s your right? Just because you’re a little rusty at being your best doesn’t mean you can’t spend some time getting the handle back.
That handle came and will come come with time. Now when I say handle I mean a flow. A feeling of acceptance of your roll in this life and a love for who you are, what you do, and whom you do it with.
Living with this freedom is a rare joy that few get to experience, but it starts with a you decision. A decision to breathe and release who you were and embrace who you will be.
