9 Positive Beliefs To Cultivate For A Simpler And Happier Life

It's your life, make it simpler and happier.

Being in a positive place within is foundational to a peaceful life.

I’m a big believer in positive thinking.

I think being in a positive place within is foundational to a peaceful life.

Everyone grows up listening to certain “catchphrases” about life from their parents, family, teachers, friends, etc.

These catchphrases are nothing more than the beliefs of the people that you hear them from.

Some of these catchphrases are positive but most of them are negative.

The worse thing is that the people you hear these phrases from may have been carrying them from other people they’ve heard it from.

In the end, it’s all just a load of crap that has no proof of being true.

The problem, however, is that when you hear something again and again, especially for a significant period of time, and especially from the people that you think are credible (for example – parents, family, friends) those things start to become your unconscious beliefs.

And before you know it, you’ve started to believe in and operate on those unconscious beliefs and you have not even given yourself a chance to test them as to whether they actually hold true for you in the first place.

Some of the common things we grow up hearing about life are: “Life’s tough”, “life’s unfair”, “life rewards the wrong people”, etc.

Life’s not simple as it is and if you operate on such beliefs about life, you’ll make it even more difficult and complicated for yourself for no good reason.

So, in order to get rid of that, here are some of the beliefs about life that you can start cultivating from today to have a more positive outlook on life:

1. Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you.

If you go through life believing that everything is happening to you, you’ll always operate from a victim mode. You’ll never feel empowered to change things.

Instead, you need to believe that everything happens for you – good or bad.

When you shift your perspective to this, bad things/situations lose power and good things/situation gain more power.

Believe that everything that’s happening – good or bad - is taking you closer to where you want to be.

2. Things aren’t as bad as they appear to be.

When things aren’t going as we want, our objective view of life becomes tainted with emotions of disappointment, fear, anger, etc. This makes things look worse than they really are.

That in turn makes us believe that we have even lesser power to change or endure what’s happening.

If we can just clear our minds of judgment and emotions, it’ll appear to us that things are actually as bad as they look/feel currently.

3. Life’s impartial.

This is one of the most empowering beliefs that you can cultivate about life.

This is also perhaps the toughest one to actually adopt.

We’ve probably heard “life’s unfair” from almost every single person we’ve met.

Unfair to us, fair to other people.

And once you’ve believed it’s so easy to get proofs about it if you just look around.

Someone’s always luckier, more talented, more fortunate, in a better situation, etc.

But things aren’t always all they “look” from outside.

This is something that I read and realized from this amazing little book called As A Man Thinketh by James Allen.

When life ‘appears’ to be fair to someone else, there are usually more causes for it than meets the eyes. Their thoughts, beliefs, skills, attitude, mindset – there’s a lot that we’re unable to see or recognize from afar.

Learn to look at unconscious things that are hiding in the plain sight and life won’t appear as unfair anymore.

4. It will happen for you.

As Elon Musk says, “The first thing is to establish that something is possible; then probability will occur.”

One of the most crucial things in life is to actually believe that something that you want is possible for you, that you can in fact have it.

If you are not on board with the possibility of something happening for you, there’s no amount of other forces that can make it happen for you.

5. It’s never too late to change what you don’t like.

If you’re ever dissatisfied with anything in life, remember it’s never too late to change it. Period.

6. Life rewards those who love and live it to the fullest.

Don’t wait for your life to be a certain way before you start loving and living it.

If you believe this, you’ll soon start operating with this belief, too.

Start loving and living it wherever it is right now and watch it manifest exactly into whatever you want.

7. There’s always a solution or a way out.

You’ve to cultivate this one as an obligatory belief about life; otherwise, what else is the option?

You’ll inevitably find a solution or a way out for everything if you’re willing to look further, longer, and clearer.

There is always a solution.

8. Life’s what you make it.

Your life’s always whatever you make, build, paint, sculpt, engineer, and develop it out to be.

So remember that you can make it however you like it.

9. Everything has its inevitable grace period.

Especially when things aren’t going well, it’s important to remember that everything has an inevitable grace period that needs to be endured.

And not just endured but done so with a positive attitude.

A grace period is the period between first planting a seed and seeing a plantlet.

The time it takes for the seed to sprout.

If you’re going through a bad phase in life, look forward to and work towards improving things for yourself instead of sulking and dragging yourself through that time/phase.

Remember that when the cold is over, it’ll be spring in no time; you just have to be patient while the winter lasts.
