5 THINGS THAT MADE ME A HAPPIER PERSON.
My idea of happiness.
I believe, HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE ! What's your take?
Through out the years I have discovered that BEING HAPPY is totally a choice regardless of having good money, work or social life .They all may contribute a little in terms to make you happy. BUT trust me, only your THOUGHTHS that are floating in your mind, have the power to manipulate your emotions. These thoughts can be your subconscious thoughts or may be the things that you have heard recently from someone.
Have you ever realized this common phenomena , that why your mood is different every single morning ,what is the reason behind your fluctuating behaviour!
Sometimes you wake up with full energy and great mood, contrary to that their are some days when you feel sad or low for absolutely no reason that you can recall. This mainly happens, because of the thoughts that crawls in your subconscious mind while you are in your sleep. People may mistake it with depression but its a very common thing which comes under human behaviour as well. Although their can be significant amount of reasons for a person to be unhappy but overall your negative thoughts make your situation worst.
When I realized that these factors are the root cause of my behavioural issues, I decided to practice some changes in my life that eventually helped me to be a happier and a better person.
PRACTICES TO ADAPT :-
1.Absorb positivity
Rather than watching suspicious news, horror web series, TV shows I indulge myself into motivational shows ,books, informative articles, human mind etc. Although, the interests may vary from person to person but the base idea should be same for every individual .That is, to feel lively and happy every time you practice towards a change. So, its always better to surround yourself with the things that you have interest in.
Surrounding your self with positive people is also a great way to barricade the external thoughts that you may carry while indulging in a conversation with someone.
2. Avoid bitching
It may seems a little harsh to read and to accept but back talking or bitching as we may say, is a part of our daily life now. And Its an extremely difficult task to train your mind to avoid negative thoughts or judgements.
Even though, you may not feel hatred about someone in your heart. But still, judging or cursing someone will not only mentally harm the person in context but also the negativity in conversation will stick with you as well, which will not allow your mind to be in peace.
You may not even realize that you are bitching about someone until unless you rethink your normal conversations and start consciously making an effort towards a healthy conversation.
3. Start meditating
I started Meditating ,because its the best practice to relax your mind. Your mind is a place where you can store information which helps you to make your opinions and built your personality. Based on that information your mind produces both negative and positive thoughts. It has been seen that negativity in your mind can easily overpowers your positive thoughts.
So, I felt that its important for me to practice meditation to balance my thoughts and it is also a great way to give your body and mind a quick detox. Practicing meditation regularly also helps you to dissolve your anger issues.
Ayurveda refers meditation as a bridge that connects both mind and soul.
4.Start doing selfless good deeds
It has been proven that doing good deeds for someone in need, creates a very positive impact on your mind . It also makes you feel good about your self .
So, I started helping others and soon realized that how awesome this feeling is and how much I love doing it.
The best part is that you don't need much resources to help someone, so their is no excuse for you to restrict your self. And for me in that list of SOMEONE any living and non-living thing counts. Providing food to homeless people, feeding stray dogs, planting trees, watering plants etc. I personally believe that these all are good deeds.
So, I urge everyone to start considering about helping someone in need .Your small efforts can make someone's day and will create a positive environment for everyone to live.
5.Self sufficient
You can't be happy if you are not productive and independent. I realized this thing very early in my life and started working towards my dreams. But being self sufficient doesn't mean that you should be only financially independent but you should also learn some common household works, despite of your gender. Like:-cooking ,cleaning etc.
It will boost your confidence and make you realize your worth. This factor also impacts the behaviour of other people towards you. They treat you in more mature way and respect your decisions. If you are fully independent and self sufficient you will also experience the value of self love.
So, these are some things that I have adapted through out the years that helped my mind to be in a happy place. This is a time taking process, you can't expect changes within few days. It took me several weeks to see that how these practices changed my personality and mindset. By practicing these things regularly, I realized that happiness is a choice that you make consciously despite of any situations.
