5 Excuses That Are Ruining Your Life and How to Stop Making Them
Dropping the words that weigh you down
Do you accept responsibility when things don't go your way, or do you prefer to make excuses? Have you ever thought about how your excuses are hurting your life? When we create excuses for why we can't or won't accomplish something, we are placing a cap on our potential.
In other words, we are casting doubt on our capacity to complete tasks, which determines what we assume we are capable of completing. Those limiting ideas will, of course, become more powerful with time and impact every part of our life.
You can, however, quit creating excuses, and here's how to get rid of six of them.
EXCUSE 1: There is just not enough time...
“You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it.” ~Charles Buxton
Yes, we all have a lot on our plates, and we're all overburdened with obligations and duties, and there's simply not enough time to get everything done, right? That's what we tell ourselves, but is it the true, unvarnished truth? Is it merely a narrative we tell ourselves to explain our actions?
When you discover yourself using this excuse, pause for a minute to assess if you are really "making the time" to concentrate on your highest priority tasks.
Perhaps you might establish some more specific and significant objectives. Perhaps you need to work with greater purpose and urgency to achieve your goals.
EXCUSE 2: There is just not enough money...
"Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into." ~Wayne Dyer
We cannot be affluent and wealthy. Things are costly, and there isn't enough money to go around, isn't there? Have you considered that maybe you don't have enough money because money isn't a priority in your life?
With that in mind, how about coming up with some money-making ideas? How about enlisting the assistance of relatives and friends who can assist you in figuring anything out? How about demonstrating some resolve and committing to earning more money for a change?
Finally, you receive what you deserve. You will be rewarded if you can work smarter and not harder.
EXCUSE 3: I just don't know how...
Isn't it true that we can't all be geniuses? Some individuals are simply naturally brilliant and talented, but others seem to have a knack for doing things very well. As for me, I just don't know-how. I'm at a loss on what to do or where to begin. I simply don't believe I'm capable of comprehending this.
Maybe you're truly pretty competent, but you simply don't realize it yet. Instead of creating excuses, commit to practicing your trade.
Before we begin, we all know nothing. And if you feel stuck, ask for guidance or look for inspiration to help you go ahead in a better manner.
EXCUSE 4: I simply can't seem to alter...
“If you know the why, you can live any how.” ~Friedrich Nietzsche
We are what we are, and there is nothing we can do about it, right? While others work hard to achieve their objectives, I simply don't have it in me to do the same. It is just impossible for me to change my personality.
I simply have to accept the truth that I will be unhappy for the rest of my life.
But wait a minute... maybe the only reason you don't feel you can change is because you don't have enough reasons. Nothing is on the line, and nothing is propelling you forward.
Begin by putting forth persistent effort to develop little new everyday routines. Only in this manner will you be able to begin making gradual improvements.
EXCUSE 5: I'm simply not there yet...
“You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going.”
~Mike Litman
But wait a minute, I'm not quite ready yet. Before I even think about getting started, I need to plan, prepare, and clip my toenails. There's simply so much to know and understand. Yes, I can accomplish that; however, I need additional time.
Perhaps all you need is a new point of view. Those who begin the race, you see, are already ahead of those who do not. Yes, they may not have everything planned out, but it does not prevent them from going ahead.
There will never be a flawless plan, and you will never be prepared. You just need to take one modest step at a time. Everything else will fall into place as you go.
Yes, we all make excuses from time to time, but is it the most honorable way to live? Isn't it preferable to quit making excuses and start accepting responsibility for everything that occurs to us?
Stop making excuses and start thinking about how you might better your circumstances.
Stop creating excuses and start looking for methods to make things work, to alter things, and to move ahead more positively. Why not just accept responsibility and commit to making errors and learning from them? What is the worst that might happen?
It's time to stop making excuses and start taking chances on yourself, beginning now.
