Under the Hood

It was just a normal day for a 16-year-old kid having dinner while watching TV at 8 PM. The elections result were proclaimed and become the sensational so-called Breaking News for the entire country. It was December’13 of winter, our national capital Delhi was accorded with its new CM(Chief Minister). It was an unprecedented accomplishment against 2 of the oldest political parties in the country. The kid was watching the latest interview post-election conducted by one of the prominent Journalist.

Now here comes the 2 most absurd feeling budding inside the kid mind-

The former feeling is prominently downhearted. After all, the questions asked by the Journalist were making no sense because those were quite vague, popular and ungratifying to the perception of the 16-year-old kid.

Later feeling is comprehending, optimistic and full of zeal because the Kid ended up with his first excitement for any particular career in his life.

Dejection to Visualization

The kid got pretty upset by the questions of the Journalist, maybe because he was expecting a well-articulated but relaxing and optimistic discussion. The most appropriate expectation was to Question the campaign strategy? instead of questioning about his life accomplishments or the politically correct question. I believe that expectation was not too much, in the end, it was just a request, a request to question in the context of the campaign strategy, after all, because of that strategy they cease the perpetuating winning of the 2 major political parties since independence.

The champ stops watching the interview in utter disappointment but the food was still left on the plate. What else a 16-year-old kid does, as most of us do, he began thinking, and the very first thought that came to his mind was-

What he would ask if he was present at the place of that profound Journalist?.

Pardon for interrupting, I want to know your version of this question or your answer, please do mention it in the comment section or you can DM me.

OK!!, coming back, the kid was now struggling with the question, what to ask, what will be the perception behind every question, will that question be loved or make sense to his audience or producers of the show and so on. This struggling comes with one optimistic situation, the kid suddenly starts visualizing the multiple version of his question, situation and discussion panels and so on. The champ now going deeper and deeper in visualizing him being in the place of that Journalist.

Interruption

The clock suddenly interrupts in between with his mesmerizing sound as most the Indian old(probably around ’90s) giant clock does. The visualization is over now, that champ undergoes his first hallucination using visualization about him being present in the same situation and asking his versions of questions.

This one hour journey from dejection through first feeling to instant visualization about him being there occurs, hence justifying the paragraph headline i.e. Dejection to Visualization.

Ending

The story is still not over, the kid got deeper and deeper, he starts searching about the journalists, news shows, watching behind the scenes of news channels on Youtube and googling a lot under the hood scenes and stories, reading a lot about the journalist and so on. He also starts reading about How to become a journalist, create the tiny tiny dreamy world of being a journalist one day.

See, I am not a career counsellor but listening to this version we all can say that this kid may be found his passion?. Who knows the exact answer, I guess only time can tell about his passion. Well, the story ends, all the visualization comes to an end but not the belief of being the Journalist one day.

I know what you all are thinking, you too all are expecting a good ending or maybe something more comprehendible and excited. Well, all stories don’t have a good ending but I am sure this one does because that 16-year-old kid was me☺️. I was the one who does that visualization, practise, dreaming, laughing, speaking and questioning.

Since the age of 16, I want to be a Journalist, so much, so deeper. So far only the definition of Why I want to be a Journalist get more clear and concise, otherwise, the rest all remains the same.

Context

I am sure you must be thinking about why I have started with my story. Who cares about that 16-year-old thinking and belief, of course, nobody, that belief won’t change the world at all or create any impact then why to even listen to it. You were right, you have an absolute choice to reject the story, to not to believe in the story, but If you have come this far to the article then I believe you are not here to come to only this far, so go ahead my friend till the end and give me chance to give this whole story a perfect ending.

Breaking the chain

2 years ago I was working as a professional developer in a startup, It was going good I was learning a lot, earning a decent paycheck and was working in a good team of developers. I googled and reached this place called Medium, the platform where I used to write. I start writing and wrote my very first blog, absurdly but a true feeling of being a Journalist. I was happy although I didn’t publish that article on any platform. I was still struggling with the same set of questions, whether people will read my article, whether my article is liked or appreciated. Those self-doubts start making my thinking cloudy and I ended up being deleting my first article.

It’s been 2 years now, I read tonnes of articles, read tonnes of the book especially political ones still believing that one day maybe I’ll. But in March 2021, I have just completed my 30Days of the Design challenge, I was so much happy that I challenge myself and achieved it. The very next day this idea of 30 Days of Code comes to my mind, I believe that every person who conveys the information to the mass is a Journalist practising Journalism leaving the exceptions I am not sure about. So I took another challenge and commence it with launching headline on LinkedIn. Days passed on and on, after 15 days I was doing good, writing every article related to the development domain and publishing on a medium on daily basis. On 21th day, I start feeling more satisfied and fulfilling. I have a whole bunch of 21 articles now, Good isn’t it. The person who dreams of being a journalist, the kid who delete his first article now have 21 articles live with almost 3–4K total views. See the effect of 21 days, I have read somewhere that if you want to make a habit of anything does it for straight 21 days. Here I was, 21 days of straight writing every day, coding new code. After the 25th day, I woke up early and the very first thing I do is open the Medium story editor and starts writing my story. That day I discovered that writing becomes my hobby now, I have ended up following my passion for creating content, practising Journalism, Now I can ask whatever question I want, I can answer in whatever way I feel, I can create impact through my work in whatever forms I want.

21 Day Hack

Today, at the time of writing, I have completed my challenge of 30 days of Code. I want to thank Linkedin & Twitter, I got a decent amount of love from these platforms. Some decent followers on each of them too. On the corollary, I have learnt this hack of 21 Days. Whatsoever new hobby or skills I want to learn I directly start away with this new 30 or 21 days of the challenge. This pushes me beyond my expectations, compelled me to explore a bit more about me and my relationship with consistency.

Trying on your own

I urge you all to just try this hack once, Whatever you were procrastinating for years or months or days, any new skill you want to learn, any new language you want to pursue, go ahead, start straight away with the 21 days challenge. All you have to do is devote a few hours or minutes of a day to this challenge for straight 21 or 30 days and certainly, you will end up learning or making it a habit. In the end, learning or achieving something is not rocket science, the only thing it takes is honesty. If you are honest then you will achieve it Trust me.

Conclusion

The challenge is over and I am still writing on Medium, reading new things and getting new ideas for my topics become my hobby. I am upgrading this challenge to 90 Days to make this a habit and to instil this habit in my blood. Please, do let me know your experience with this hack or what are you looking up to for the next 30 days of the challenge. Looking forward to listening to your challenge in the comments section.
