10 Quotes To Encourage Us To Avoid Procrastination

"Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy." - Wayne Gretzky

We all want to find some sort of certainty and reassurance when it comes to making decisions, especially important ones. At all costs, we want to avoid making a decision that will lead us to failure, financial loss, embarrassment, and unnecessary judgement from others, and that's only natural, as none of these results are pleasant. As a result, we seek solace in the form of procrastination, just to delay rushing into anything that could have that negative impact on us. When we talk about these important decisions in life, ones that can result in a positive life transformation, goal achievement, success, prosperity, and even fulfillment and happiness, pretty much all the time, these decisions come with some form of risk, change, and awkwardness. It leaves us with having to weigh up the pros and cons, but because the human mindset is more reactive and receptive to negativity, due to our first form of instinct being about protecting our method of survival, we more often than not allow the cons to dictate our decision. Having said that, we also don't want to shut the door on that opportunity for a positive life transformation, goal achievement, success, prosperity, and even fulfillment and happiness, so our go to decision is to think about it. We want more time to really look over those pros and cons more carefully, we may want to do some research, we may want to gain advice from others, and we may go on the warpath to seek out more reassurance about proceeding. This would be more than understandable, because we don't want to foolishly rush into anything that is not beneficial for us, or perhaps may be a scam, but there are two issues with procrastination.

The first issue is that many of us don't actually spend the time considering the decision further, nor do we conduct research, and instead, we just go back to being consumed by our everyday life. The result is, although we haven't officially made a decision to, or not to, proceed, our inaction in moving forward with the decision means we are actually making the decision of not proceeding anyway. A decision should never take any longer than 48 hours, if it's in regards to a positive life changing opportunity. The second issue is that procrastination may also mean we miss out on the opportunity altogether, and we will never know the result of an opportunity unless we actually go for it. Each opportunity passed up, becomes more time wasted to achieve the life we desire. Procrastination can then become habit, because we start to become driven by fear, not by our goals. There are two truths we also need to understand and accept. Firstly, not all opportunities are going to result in success. In fact, life has a habit of making the path to success extremely difficult for us, because it wants us to learn, grow, and develop. We will often find that we fail time and time again, and that we constantly hit roadblocks. All those negative outcomes I mentioned above do actually come true, but these negatives create a different kind of opportunity for us, and one that is so vitally important to us. We are presented with the opportunity to prove our courage, our strength, our patience, our resilience, and our creativity, in finding a solution to overcoming adversity. It helps define our character, and helps us to become mentally stronger. It's developing these traits that propels us toward success.

Secondly, there are no guarantees in life. No matter how much we seek reassurance and convincing, no matter the advertising, or what people may say, there are no guarantees in life. If we want something badly enough, and one would think that achieving our goals and success, plus creating a future blessed with happiness and prosperity, would be enough to drive and motivate us so, then sometimes we just need to take the plunge and go for it. It's foolish to be sitting back with the expectation that life is going to magically deliver this success and happiness to us. Life rewards these blessings to those with courage, will power, resilience, patience, perseverance, and a desire to work hard. It's like with anything in life that we procrastinate on, be it delaying to mow the lawns, or delaying to wash the car, or delaying to get a tedious task done at work, unless we make that decision to proceed, we can never achieve the result we desire, and tasks remain incomplete. Find the will power and courage to make bold decisions, and stop delaying and finding excuses to not get things done. Most of all, don't delay any further in progressing to achieve your goals, because we are all on borrowed time, and the more time you choose to wait on a decision and an opportunity, the less time you will have to enjoy the rewards life has to offer. Here are 10 quotes to help encourage you to find the strength to make bold decisions and avoid procrastinating.
