Married to Green

Literally--I'm Married and DIYing Our Green Wedding!

My Tiktok of before and after.

We planned on getting married 12/20... But that was before an entire pandemic broke out. On the nice cool breezy day of February 21, 2020, my boyfriend proposed to me! We decided we would get married on the day we became officially exclusive to one another-- which was December 11th, 2017-- and it would have worked out perfectly, being that December 11th, 2020 was a Friday. We would have celebrated the entire weekend. March something of 2020, the president announced that we have to limit gatherings and we instantly stopped planning. It felt like no point in carrying on.

Fast forward one year later, March 10th, 2021, we decided to take things into our own hands and just do it! We got married at our church in front of God and the pastors wife. We literally just did it.

We still wanted to have a wedding so of course I instantly began planning until my little heart-- and my wallet-- couldn't take anymore.

Presently, I am STILL planning our dream wedding and creating in my mind what would be the best version of our relationship birthed into an event that our family and friends could enjoy. We only have until July 11th.

This piece of art that I made represents our last name, Green. Of course I had to use shades of green and a contrasting color to make it pop. I got inspired by my favorite place in the world, Pure Raw Juice. If you've never been you have to go and get an Acai bowl; It will truly change your life.

I absolutely love the vibe that they have there and I couldn't help but want to recreate the "LOVE RAW" letters.

I went to Joanne's and bought some materials. I also borrowed a few things from my sister.

  1. Artificial flowers
  2. The letters "G" "R" "E" "E" "N"
  3. Green spray paint
  4. Hot glue gun
  5. Scissors (of course)
  • First, I sprayed the letters green and let it dry.
  • After it dried, I headed over to my sisters house and got the scissors and the glue gun ready to cut and paste.
  • I separated the leaves and flowers from their artificial stem and used every piece of material I could fit on the letters.
  • I tried to spread out the white flower pieces to fill the space between the leaves.
  • For the fake pampas leaves, I had to cut the wire that the stringy fabric was wrapped around which was a little difficult at first but I got the hang of it. For the fabric that was unwrapping after the cut, I hot glued the end and wrapped the glue around with my finger to hold it in place.

After I organized all of the material I could begin to hot glue the flower pieces to the letters! The bigger pieces had to be stuck inside of the letters so I made a tiny hole with my scissors and stuck fake stem inside and hot glued the hole shut.

I knew I didn't have enough to fill all of the entire letters so I did one side and it turned out nice. I'm happy with the final result.

I had a few ideas about where this artwork would be used in our wedding. I wanted to have them in the front to greet our guests to a nature-filled ambiance, since the ceremony would be outside. The letters could be stacked and lean against our "Welcome to our unplugged ceremony" sign.

I then thought, maybe I can use them as centerpieces, but there aren't enough to fill each table. (I would need 8 all together). They also may be too big for the table settings.

My Artwork: Finished

I'm not exactly sure where this art will be used at the wedding but stay tuned to my TikTok (@ccvldfrench) to find out with me! It's too cute to go to waste.
