A path to travel light

2:58 a.m., I gaze around the room finding dark shadows and shapes that are unfamiliar. I try using the moonlight to determine where my glasses are. As I walk to the kitchen for a glass of water, I pace through the dark blue hallway where I see darker blue figures on the ground. I flip the light. My eyes squint until they adjust. Red and purple squeaky toys decorate my carpet and I can't help but smile.

As I get back to the bedroom, I memorize the path before the light goes out again. Make a right at the tan dog bed, stop at the white desk chair, and PLOP back into the bed; But, when the light goes off, the colors stop glowing.

"I got this.", I tell myself.

7:02 a.m., sunlight dances through my window and crawls over my slumbering eyes. A red hue begins to fill my eyelids to tell me that it's time to rise.

"Good morning.", I whisper as I glance over at my husband's café brown eyes and his smooth salmon lips. "Good morning, Sunshine.", He replies.

I stretch myself out of the bed, and the room fills even brighter; More colors begin to pour in. A soft radiance enters with an illuminating yellow glow-- warm and energizing. Throughout the day, a new light shines in with a different enthusiasm than the one from the moment before. The once dark room has been turned into a rich pallet of life. Light bounces from color to color and fills the room with emotion.

My soul is filled. The world is colorful again.
