It is called ‘Mindfulness’ in English, which can be translated into Urdu, that is, to live with one’s mind present in one’s present moment, present tense, present moment.

The flow of ideas never stops in the human mind. One idea comes after another. In such a situation, the bitter memories and sorrows of the past grieve us, but also the fear of the future and the thought of possible failures. If we consider that both the past and the future are present only in our minds, because the past has passed and now only its memories are in our minds, and the future has not yet come only our guesses and thoughts about it. Take the form of The more our thoughts are distracted, and the more they keep coming to mind without our consent, the more we will feel sadness and sorrow in our lives, while living in the present is the cause of happiness and well-being.

The present name is to live in every moment of the present while focusing on one’s present condition, because in fact this is the only time that really exists. So the most important time is now. It is true that all this is very easy to say, but in practice it is very difficult to do. Being present not only hinders the structure of our brain, mind and memory, but also the basic map of our own existence and the genes that create difficulties for us in this regard. However, with constant practice, attention and determination, this ability can be achieved.

The human brain is the physical organ that is the result of millions of years of evolution that we might call hardware in computer language, while the human mind, which stores our memories, is what we call software. Can compare The mind is the center of our abilities such as thinking, understanding, feeling and imagining. It is important to note that not all minds are the same. Like all other organs, they are not perfect and have flaws. Sigmund Freud’s statement that “our structure is our destiny” is correct in the sense that no human being in general can easily move beyond the map of his mental and physical constitution, mental capacity and genes.

Genes, according to Richard Dawkins, are selfish molecules that want survival at any cost. It is these genes that determine the proportions we have of emotions such as jealousy, envy, anger and grief, or more accurately, of other human beings. In addition to the predetermined traits of genes, we are constantly influenced and influenced by the environment. That is, we do not descend like a product made in the world, but our personality grows in the light of our individual experiences and events. Thus, in simple words, our life is a combination of the distinctions and abilities of our body and mind, as well as the interaction with the environment. While this environment teaches us a lot of wisdom and skill, it also brings with it many sad memories.

But scientifically some memories can be erased by removing certain parts of the human brain, but it is not possible to make a list before the operation and according to that list only unpleasant memories can be removed from the brain. Then scattering memories like this can never cultivate a normal mind. So man has to live with all his memories.

Unpleasant memories sometimes give rise to negative thoughts and then there is the problem that negative thoughts do not come and go only once but keep revolving in the mind again and again and we try a million times, do not get out of the mind. So remember the fact that whatever causes trouble and difficulties in your life, the first thing that makes you realize it is your thoughts. So if negative thoughts enter your mind, you should be fully aware of them and accept them with an open heart. This awareness, mental awareness and the power to recognize those situations can make your life calm and happy and that is the main purpose of being present.

To stay present, you will need to exercise in the same way that exercise is needed to keep your body healthy. The more you pay attention to these exercises, the sooner and better you will succeed.

Here are some practice exercises:

* The basic philosophy of the present is to focus fully on whatever you are doing. You can make any of your daily activities part of your present practice. These can be simple daily tasks, such as brushing teeth, combing, ironing clothes or cycling. The only rule is that while working, the mind should be fully focused on it and in the meantime, if the mind wanders towards the past or the future, gently bring it back to the present moment.

*One tried and tested method is to focus on your breathing. Inhale, exhale, and exhale at any time of the day or night. Just pay full attention to the breath. In the beginning it will be that the mind will subconsciously wander to different thoughts, but there is no need to worry about it, focus on breathing again and keep practicing. Even if this exercise is done for only three minutes a day, the skill of being present begins.

*Different people use different methods to practice presence. Just like some people pay attention to every part of their body one by one from head to toe and thus it becomes a five to six minute exercise to keep the focus on one point. Thus listening to music with full attention, paying full attention to the voice of the singer and the zero album of music. Walking in such a way that instead of getting lost in thoughts, trying to feel every scene, scent and even the touch of the air around you, worshiping and meditating with full attention are also different forms of it.

Take any practice to learn to be present, just keep the main goal in front of you, that is, instead of being overwhelmed by your thoughts and dominating them, live in the present moment, fully present physically and mentally. It is a precious ability that frees us from the bondage of negative thoughts. Until we have this ability, the thoughts that come to mind come voluntarily and we live according to them. With this ability our mind begins to work according to our will.

After acquiring the ability to be present, negative thoughts, although in the background, lose their ability to have a bad effect on us. The mental awareness that comes from being present makes a person live life to the fullest. By being present we know that the only day that rises is the day we wake up.
