How yoga changes the brain
Yoga is more than a trend; yoga is a movement. The practice, imported from India, has become a popular sport in the West. In Germany, more than 15 million people now do the sun salutation, stretch their legs into the downward-looking dog or sit meditatively side by side in the lotus position to relax, manage stress, strengthen their backs and stay fit. Or are at least interested in embarking on the gentle path to well-being. The multitude of practicing expects an improvement of the physical condition as well as the psyche. And this is not a perceived truth.

I Cuss During Yoga
I’ve been practicing yoga instead of weight lifting these past few months. With weight lifting, I tend to do too much, like I have to prove something. And I was getting to the point where I would need to actually buy some equipment rather than just use the rickety bench a cousin left over when he stayed with us for a bit. I’d have to buy a squat rack, and I didn’t want to have to try and lug that down into the basement where my Deadlift Dungeon resided.

Beginners guide to Yoga #1
I for a long time have been wanting to adopt a discipline in my daily routine. One of the main improvement I wanted to do was the physical exercise. I been going for a jog in the mornings, but come rainy season I have to cancel the jog, and this resulted in loosing the consistency. I am not a big fan of push ups-pull ups and other exercises. Being a seeker of truth myself yoga was the option I decided to choose. I believe yoga way suited me better.

Keep it Simple. Do Yoga
I remember when I began to discover the power of practicing yoga asana. As a young adult, I was feeling a sense of displacement. I felt confused about the world and my place in it. Nothing seemed to fit quite right in the puzzle pieces that life had given me. From this place of a quiet desperation that cloaked my experience of the world, I came across a book called “Light on Yoga” by BKS Iyengar. I read the beginning pages and felt a deep relief, because there was a path, tools for liberation, a system that brought freedom to the body, mind and soul.

Yoga
lōkāḥ samastāḥ sukhinōbhavantu Let all the people in the world be happy Introduction The physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India's Sanatana culture (modern day Hinduism). Sanskrit word Yoga is derived from its Sanskrit root Yuj meaning 'to attach, join'. The spiritual meaning here falls in line with the word because in Hindu culture, it is believed that all our souls are a fragment of one Supreme God soul. The goal of each human is to merge back to the God. Yoga is believed to be one of the paths to achieve this spiritual goal. Since Buddhism and Jainism is also rooted with the Sanatana dharma there are broad varieties of yoga teachings/practices too.

A Different Type of Yoga Class
And isn’t there a kind of magic when we finally arrive? Not to some fantastical destination, but to the present moment. Isn’t there some kind of magic to finding home, not out there, but inside our minds and our bodies? And isn’t there the ultimate magic in coming back to this discovery, again and again?

THE YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI
Yoga sutras cannot be understood as a book of ideas. Yoga activities are defined in the sutras, however. As explained, they make sense, but you can’t really understand the purposeful details. In contrast to attempting to explore a broader range of ideas, they just describe what is in the framework. You determine which method of activity to practice, through trial and error. Based according to what objectives you want to achieve.
