The Field of Silence
"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone." ~Blaise Pascal I could study this one quote for a whole lifetime. It made me ponder my own meditation journey, and the clarity it has brought me. Clarity that I didn't even know was possible for me. Like a snow globe that has been set down on a counter top. All the clouded mist and snow has softly settled. The feeling that your mind is pure and free. That's what meditation has been like for me.

I Lost My Mind in the Trees
Ten years ago I lost my mind. I held my knees to my chest in the corner of my bedroom. I couldn’t catch my breath. My chest was convulsing, and I started to cry. I felt like a leaf floating in the air. Twisting and turning with the will of the wind. I couldn’t find my footing. I was dizzy. My sister brought me thick warm soup, and my hands shook as I drew it to my lips. I took a sip and felt the burning on my tongue, down my throat, and into my belly. I put rocks in my pockets and rubbed my hands with warm sesame seed oil. As much as I tried, I couldn’t get grounded. I was fortunate, at this time in my life, to have ten different opportunities to pursue. I had ten different paths which I could walk down. All of them just as good, but the fear set in, as what if I chose the wrong one? What if I walk so far down one path, and it is too late to turn around? Instead of walking, I sat, in the corner and drank soup.

How Meditating Killed Me. Top Story - July 2019.
I’m sure anyone who has heard of meditation has heard a story about somebody becoming so ungrounded that they lost all health and stability. Supposedly, finding yourself too high up in your chakras can detach you from your bodily needs and put you in a casket. I waved these exaggerations aside as I stepped into the world of meditation... that is until I found out for myself just how unexaggerated this scenario was.

How Meditation Cured My Anxiety
I've been dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, and a lot of stress for about two years now. Not only is my head full of thoughts all the time, also my body is showing me that my inner self is not at peace. A few months ago I started watching videos about meditation; I decided to give it a try and bought a book called Mindfulness in Plain English. This book focuses on one form of meditation, which deals with calming yourself down by focusing on your breath only. The reason why you focus on your breath is because you're breathing the entire time. It never stops, so if you focus on your breath, you are in the absolute present moment. Not in the past, not in the future. When you focus on your breath, you don't think about the next breath, or the last breath to come, do you?
