How To Live A Healthy Lifestyle
It seems as though everyone is striving to have a “healthy lifestyle”. I feel as though people think this is drinking green smoothies, doing yoga, going for runs, and being in incredible shape. But what is it really? In 1946, the World Health Organization defined it as, “A complete state of mental, physical and social well-being not merely the absence of disease”. This is pretty different from what society is saying a healthy lifestyle is. In my opinion, a healthy lifestyle is one where you feed your body in ways that make you happy, moving your body in ways that make you feel good, and doing things that make you feel fulfilled.

We tend to use our thigh muscles for everything: sitting, standing, walking, jogging, running, etc. However, somehow, we don’t even know the name of the muscles that we use every single day. The muscles in our thighs are collectively called quadriceps muscles, more commonly known as quads. These quadriceps femoris muscles are the largest, strongest and fleshiest muscles in our body. They are found in the front and sides of the thigh bone(femur). They constitute vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, and rectus femoris.

Artie "Mr. Fitness" Levin gave keys to artery health
The man in the photo is Artie Levin who was a local physical fitness legend in Roanoke Virginia. I remember his television program coming on at 9:30 on weekday mornings when I was a child. You can see from the image that he could jump in the air and stretch his so that his fingers touched his toes. That simple gesture could be a big factor in longevity of life, artery health, and blood pressure readings.
