Progressive Glasses

Granny Glasses

I had an eye doctor's exam yesterday, It's been four years since I had one. I put it off because of the glaucoma eye testing. They used a machine called a Tonometer.

You watch a green dot and the machine blows air in your eye. I usually jump off my seat when this happens. Silly me, right?

This test is important because it indicates whether your optic nerve is damaged. I passed that test with flying colors, and this eye issue is not in my family's health history.

The eye doctor I had was very professional and made the eye exam fast and easy. A friend of mine suggested that since I use the computer a lot, Progressive eye lenses would be helpful.

I did not know what he was talking about. He just told me that I could have my reading glasses, my nearsightedness glasses, and computer glasses all in one pair of glasses.

Technology come a long way.

The only issue I had was that I could not purchase wide-lens glasses, which would give me a youthful look. I had to purchase smaller-lens eyeglasses. I purchased very sophisticated-looking glasses, so I look a little smart.

The first impression goes a long way anywhere you go. My glasses are very important to me.

They became granny glasses because I purchased an eyeglass chain for them. The Chain helps me find my glasses if I take them off.

I purchased my Chain, which looks like the photo above, at the eye doctor's office for around ten dollars. It would have been cheaper to buy it online, but I could not wait for the delivery. At Amazon, it takes three business days.

I am using my new progressive lens glasses now, and I did not have to remove them to write this story on my laptop.

I just have to be careful when walking outside and using the steps. The transition of the lens can change or adjust depending on how you are looking through which part of the lens on the glasses. I am still adjusting to it.

I enjoy these glasses because I don't have to take them off when I look at my smartphone or read something. I also have the right reading glasses with this progressive lens.

I have two store-bought reading glasses, but the words were blurry for me to see. I can see so much clearer now, and I feel my world has brightened somewhat because of this new progressive lens.

I did learn I am getting cataracts in my left eye. My eye doctor says to keep an eye on it for any changes in my vision. Cataract comes with age there is no stopping it. It usually starts for some at the age of 40.

The eye technician, who was very nice, suggested that I purchase an anti-glare coating for the lens. That costs between $50 and $75, and it's not covered by my vision insurance. She said it could help prevent cataracts from progressing quickly.

She told me the transition lens does not help with the glare because it does not reduce reflection but it does help improve night driving.

These are my experiences and what I learned with these new eye technology lenses.

Thank you for reading.

I went to Eye Mart, it took me two hours to get my new progressive lens glasses with transition coating gray. They were out of the brown-colored one.

I'm glad that these glasses are working for you, Mariann! Eye strain can be a problem these days, what with having to stare at digital devices all day!

I'm glad you got that taken care of. Good for you.

  • I'm so glad your new glasses are very helpful. As for your cataracts, you can take Lutein and Zeaxanthin for it. They're antioxidants and can be bought as supplements. But since your digestive system is very sensitive, I'd suggest you talk to your doctor first
