How to Dump a Mean Doctor
In order to be a happy person, you have to be around happy people who do not have a need to bring you down. Seeking out happiness means you need to be around positive individuals. I had a doctor who said gleefully that without my government help, I’d be a homeless bum. Well, thanks, that’s not funny. She laughed about this way too long, which is why I told her not to speak to me like that. Then I decided after I went home from this visit, to dump her, because I will not withstand being talked to like that.

Living With Hearing Aids
I'm 37 and I’ve had hearing aids full time for around 17 years, but have been deaf for much longer. We first noticed I was deaf when I was 8 years of age. There was a theory that the chicken pox I had at the time killed the nerve in the right ear, though this idea was confusing when my earing became better in the right and less in the left.

Growing Up Sick
Does anyone else hate it when you're sick and someone says something like, "Oh, it's not that bad, it's just a cold, stop complaining!" or anything along those lines? I do! Especially for someone like me who grew up being sick. What I mean by that is, from the time I was about 4-years-old I was in and out of hospitals and doctor's offices. First off, I was born prematurely. I was only 4 pounds when I was born. I can't say whether or not that had anything to do with my development growing up, but who knows? I just know that from around the age of 4 anytime I got even a little bit sick—i.e. a cough, a sneeze, a runny nose, it would almost always turn into a full-blown fever and a lot of visits to the doctor. I'll never forget when I was about 5 or 6, I was taken to the hospital for severe dehydration and they ended up having to put a tube down my throat and I remember getting a lot of IV's. It was a stomach virus gone horribly wrong. Throughout the years I would get those a lot and was hospitalized a lot.

I Am Addicted!
Caffeine is a drug. I weigh the pros and cons to help me decide what path to take. Shall I give up coffee? Not! I so much enjoy a good cup of coffee, cappuccino, latte, or frappuccino. I do not like espresso. Coffee and lemon water are the only beverages I drink.

The Possible Causes of Obesity
A Personal Perspective: Before I start I need to make it clear to my readers that I do not have a degree or certification in nutrition. I gained an abundance of knowledge throughout the last 40 plus years as a nurse. I worked closely, for many years with dietary consultants, nutritional professionals, other nurses, doctors, laboratory consultants, and many patients. I continue to do a lot of research on weight loss, lifestyle changes, diets, disease, illnesses, and medications.

California Force Fit
For starters, I'm a Chicagoan. Love the big city, men in suits, crazy weather. I can wear all my seasonal clothing in a week. Currently, I've been living in California for almost two years, you quickly notice the new Californians (who lived here for at least 3 to 5 years) change the view of how people present themselves here. No offense to any Californians who were born here or unrelated to this topic, but I feel like I'm walking on a college campus when I'm in LA. Everyone presents themselves in a certain way, which is fine. Their inspirational and creative people, but due to half of the people being on social media, they're given the idea that they are forced to be fit, especially to the millennials and generation x. Being fit has become a trend in my opinion.
