The Doctors Dilemma
Download a free copy of the Cognitive Divesity Map Here A doctor consulting with a patient has to inform them that they have a malignant tumour. This is not a pleasant task, particularly as the prognosis isn’t good. However, some recent research with a new ultrasonic ray has shown that it can blast the tumour away. The problem is that whilst the ultrasonic ray can destroy the tumour it also destroys all the surrounding tissue and may result in the death of the patient. If they reduce the intensity of the ray then there will be no damage to the surrounding tissue, but the tumour will not be destroyed and the patient may die anyway. What should the surgeon do?

Disconnect from Social Media to Reconnect with Gratitude
Recently I decided to cut back my social media use. I’d noticed a growing dissatisfaction beyond the normal day-to-day struggle of making ends meet as a freelancer that was robbing me of joy. A combination of constant ads trying to sell me pretty things I don't need and a seeming uptick in big-life-event announcements on my friends’ feeds had me focused on all that I don’t have in life rather than being grateful for all that I do have.

Mirror Dragon Tarot week#5 2020
Reading for 1-27 thru 2-2-20 The Center card this week is the Knight of Swords. I see the Knights of the Tarot as leaders and way-finders. They stride forward to clear a path for those who follow. They’re confident, sure footed and fully aware of the prospects, pitfalls and possibilities of the suit they represent. As the suit of Swords relates to air, we find the focus of the week centering around our thinking and the ways in which we communicate with others. The electrical fluidity of our brain power is running high and ideas and thoughts flow easily. Perhaps too easily for those folks who tend to get confused or caught up in details, but if we’re able to accept and grasp the confidence of this smart and practical Knight we may find that the tangles of detail are easily combed through. As our thoughts and plans solidify we find ourselves in need of clear and understandable ways to communicate what’s important to us and why. This clarity can pop up in relationships, at work, in meditation and even dreams so it looks like we’ll have the chance to express ourselves clearly in whatever situations we face.

Staying Warm and Healthy in Winter
Winter can be miserable. It's cold outside, you're cooped up indoors and it's also cold and flu season. While getting a cold is not as common in the summer, people are frequently missing school and work because of illness. Some of this is because of being stuck indoors, where germs can spread more easily. However, some studies have shown that a lowered body temperature can lower your immune response to something like the common cold.

VoiceForVoiceless
ALZ caregiving is not about the caregiver. Inside of each patient with cognitive brain disorder is a beautiful individual with a good heart wondering what’s going on in their heads. My husband was diagnosed in 2009 with Alzheimer’s Disease. I’ve been his 24/7 voice and caregiver since that date. From the onset of my husband’s ALZ attack, I had to learn by trial and error. It soon became very clear, in our situation, that this was our journey. I had to figure out so much about something I knew so little about. However, I knew without a doubt that I needed to learn, “How do I become what he needs when his reality is not real and is not mine.

Understanding Electronic Health Records: An Inside Look
More and more health systems are transitioning to electronic health records (EHRs) these days. EHRs allow physicians and providers to maintain continuity, quickly accessing notes from past sessions and even sending charts to other clinics or systems as needed. Physicians are expected to take accurate and comprehensive notes, but are given a wider scope of categories to report on than in past.
