Enhancing The Emotional Journey of the Dementia-Specific Resident
Journeys, like emotions, always follow a pathway of change and are forever indicating to us our progress, our movement, our performance and awareness. For a person living with dementia, emotions begin to operate exclusively on an intuitive level, where intellect is replaced by impulse; logic is interpreted as non-sensical; and where choices are governed by momentary lapses of clarity.Experiences are shaped by perception; our perception is ruled by the mental conditioning our culture imposes upon us - which in turn, dictates our emotional responses to the feelings we experience. For those living with dementia, societal norms are eroded by the plaques and tangles in the brain. Their thoughts are disconnected by the disconnected synapses in the brain; while logic is disseminiated by frontal lobe damage to the brain. Feelings are the only authentic, trustworthy indicator of our sense of self, which is especially true for our dementia residents living in aged care. Why? Because feelings are totally instinctive and ever-present.

Mirror Dragon Tarot Free weekly Reading #20
This week we have quite a powerful triad, three Major Arcana cards with the Devil at the center. The Major Arcana cards help us look at the “big picture”. They represent the overarching life lessons to be found within our daily experiences. When we take the opportunity to look back at pivotal times in our lives with the wisdom of hindsight we can find lessons underneath the multitude of experiences, fears, joys and confusion that combined to create that vital event. For instance; I held a very good job for many years, I made good money which allowed me to live comfortably, even more than comfortably. After years of striving, growing and finally reaching a top management position, the business I worked for merged with another and every management position that had been held by a woman was either terminated or retitled and given to a man. Needless to say, I found myself without the job that paid the bills. I lost a house, 2 cars and a boat, not to mention my self esteem, and was reduced to moving “back home to Mom” at 40 years of age. When it happened I couldn’t see through the frustrated tears a lot of the time. I felt defeated and quite worthless. I packed up and moved from the west coast to the east and started over. Single, in a job that wouldn’t have covered my car payment only a few months before and feeling like I’d lost everything that determined who I was, I was forced to begin living a different way. I learned a lot about being frugal and I hated it. But when I began to find a new sense of who I was that wasn't tied to the amount of money I made it felt good. I began to like myself for different reasons. Reasons that were not determined by what other people thought was the right way to live. It took five years, a lot of self recrimination and soul searching but at 45 I found myself out of debt, in a loving and fulfilling relationship (now marriage) and finally able to do a job that I love and feel passionate about full time without the fear of being terminated. I promised myself I would never terminate me. The reason for this rambling intro is so I can approach the impact of Major Arcana lessons and, in particular The Devil, in a roundabout way. As I look back, I see that the woman I was before the “crash” would never have found the happiness and comfort I have now. She would not have known to look. The Universe thumped me on the head and knocked me onto a far better path than I would have found with the mindset I had 20 years ago. That said…

3 Women at Walmart Convince Me That We Will Beat COVID-19
I had my first day off since the pandemic started. Our county is under a stay-at-home order to stop the spread of COVID-19, and face coverings are now required. Morning Habits to Start Your Day Off Right
Wake Up Early. One of the biggest benefits of waking up early is the ability to go to sleep early. If you wake up at 5 a.m. and you're productive throughout the day, you'll be more tired by the end of the night, making it easier to sleep. This creates a better sleep cycle. And sleep is important for your health.
