September - A Month of Awareness
There is so much to be aware of in the month of September, especially in 2020. When we practice this type of awareness, it is not just an opportunity to recognize the people in our communities who struggle with the disorder/illness. It's more than just an attempt at fostering more diversity and inclusion. Awareness can help YOU down the line. Yes, YOU!

Passion Starts Outside the Bedroom
A lot of people, especially my fellow men, do not seem to understand that passion and romance actually start outside the bedroom. So, you tell your woman at least once a day that you love her…that’s a great thing, but don’t stop at that!! Women need to hear that you think about them during your day. Tell her that while you were at work, you couldn’t help but smile thinking about how she felt pressed against you last night while she slept. Let her know that all day at work (or where ever you had to be) that you kept thinking about getting back to her. Even if you have been married for years and years, tell her that the feel of her kiss still makes you feel like you are stealing them after a first date. You know good and well that you tell other people about her, and I would hope that at least some of it is always a good comment. Don’t keep it to yourself…tell her how you brought the mention of her cute ways or a pleasant memory into a conversation today.

The Importance of Emotional Health
These days everyone is talking about mental health; which is an outstanding development and very important. However; not enough people are talking about the importance of emotional health. It is important to remember that your emotions are connected to your mental health as well as your physical health. Aside from those two connections, it is also an individual concern all its own. How you feel at any given moment is akin to who you are in that moment. The person you are in a given moment directly effects how you treat those around you; as well as the way you choose to treat yourself.

The journey of single parent getting healthy
I have always been a bigger girl my whole life. I was always trying to lose weight, trying the newest fad diet. I always lost weight but then would gain it back again. When I had a baby at 31 I gained weight of course and ended up at my heaviest at 220 lbs. Then I broke my arm needing surgery making me unable to work out for a long time. I had heard people say that you need to get to a point where you are fed up, fed up of being sick and tired. I use to think that of course I want to lose weight and be healthy that is crazy. But they really are right. At some point I got fed up with always lacking energy, not being able to do things and just generally not being happy in my own skin. I had lost a lot of strength after I broke my arm and at first I just wanted to gain some of it back. So I started off on a journey to be healthy. My focus was not to lose weight specifically, it was to be healthy. Which is my first bit of advice, focus on health. I focused on my want to be able to keep up with my daughter. I would see that I wasn't checked into life and wasn't present with her unable to keep up with all her energy all the time. With health as your focus it's easier I found to see the successes. Not all successes are about losing weight. Maybe it's losing inches instead, or just having more energy. There are many other things that come with being healthy. Losing weight is sometimes just a benefit. Most people feel like the start to workout and then don't lose weight right away so they give up. Focus on the other things and believe that losing weight will come.

Do Push Ups Build Muscle?
“A push-up is a common calisthenics exercise beginning from the prone position. By raising and lowering the body using the arms, push-ups exercise the pectoral muscles, triceps, and anterior deltoids, with ancillary benefits to the rest of the deltoids, serratus anterior, coracobrachialis and the midsection as a whole”.
