EWSL: Health Medicine for Gen Z
Eat, Workout, Sleep, and Love are modern-day techniques for leading a healthy life
Before understanding the dosage instructions for the medicine, first, let’s understand the meaning of health.
What is Health?
As per WHO, Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Disease-free doesn’t necessarily mean that a person is healthy, but vice-versa is true. So, the target of a person is to be Healthy and not just disease-free. Many a time, we across situations in our life that even after being disease-free as per medical reports, we tend to suffer for some health problems.
Let’s take an example:
Imagine you are suffering from a headache, and you consult a medical expert for diagnosis and further treatment. The doctor does all the medical examination of your-CT Scan, MRI, Blood Chemistry, Urinalysis, Eye examination, etc. but couldn’t derive anything out as all your medical reports are OK. Instead, he gives you some medicine without finding any exact cause of the problem, and you even feel relaxed after the dose.
Most of the people ignore such situations in life, thinking that as per MEDICAL REPORTS they are disease-free. But in actuality, they are not healthy. Health is sometimes associated with deep down feelings and experiences related to Physical, Mental, and Social wellness, which sometimes cannot be captured in Medical reports.
So, let’s move one step ahead for being keeping ourselves healthy for the long term, rather than relying on short term temporary solutions of taking medicines.
Below I have identified four parameters (Medicines :) ), that have tremendous capability to keep you healthy and not merely disease-free:
1. Eat
To be more precise it’s Healthy and Balanced Eating. Our food contains various nutrients and Vitamins that can help us fight many diseases, keeping us healthy all the time.
Try one or more of the below techniques. In addition to giving satisfaction to your tongue, food has the capability that leaves a positive effect on your Mind, Body, and Soul.
- Cook for yourself and your family
- And, Go out on weekends, and have a meal with family or friends
- Further, Explore different delicacies
- In addition, Create memories with food
In all these elements, just ensure your diet should be “Healthy and Balanced”. Don’t eat junk, fried, or do regular overeating. Take lots of vegetables, fruits, fiber-rich food, and drink plenty of water in your routine. Additionally, try practicing Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Yoga pose), after every meal for ease of digestion.
2. Workout
Next comes the important aspect of body fitness, after you had built a habit of a healthy and balanced diet. You need to burn extra calories or fat from the body to keep yourself physically active and fit. And why just physical, workout releases endorphins that energizes you, gives you calmness, and makes you feel good.
You can try out any of the below activities based on your interest and resources availability
- Exercise
- Gymnastics
- Yoga
- Sports (Football, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Athletics, etc.)
- Hobbies involving physical activity (Swimming, Cycling, Dance Classes, etc.)
Try one or more of any of these techniques and include them in your daily routine. It will benefit you both physically and mentally.
3. Love
This element talks about building a feeling of Love, Respect, Gratitude, and Acceptability. It gives satisfaction deep inside you, that cannot be measured in any medical examination but will help you lead a satisfactory, and healthy life.
- Love yourself and people around
- Additionally, Serve Humanity by supporting someone in Education, Medically, Financially, or even Morally.
- And, Make at least one person smile every day.
These feelings leave impressions on your soul, benefitting you both emotionally and spiritually.
4. Sleep
Sleep is a basic human need, but many people don’t pay much attention to this prime element. No matter how your day goes, you deserve a perfect end to every day so that you can start the next day with full energy. In today’s stressful environment, it’s necessary to take a pause and recharge yourself. And, A SOUND sleep is the best method to do.
- Take a minimum of 7 hours of daily sleep.
- Try Shavasana or Supta Baddha Konasana before the sleep. It will relax your mind for sound sleep.
- Moreover, spend a minimum of 10 minutes of ME time before sleep to analyze all the good happenings and your achievements, during the day.
Relaxed sleep lowers down your heart rate, giving a rest to both body and mind.
Conclusion
Due to today’s sedentary lifestyle, people don’t follow a routine or don't pay attention to these elements. It disturbs your physical and mental balance, leading to the birth of many secondary diseases. So, it is of utmost importance to give priority to these activities, the same way as you give to your work. If work helps you generate wealth, EWSL helps you in leading a healthy lifestyle.
To conclude, whatsoever is the situation in life, keep a smile on your face. Include all these elements in your daily routine and lead a qualitative & healthy life.
