Emotional Detox

Tips on how to manage an emotional detox. You are not alone.

By ElishaPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

As I sit here alone in my two bedroom apartment, trying not to go get my favorite salty crackers from the fridge, I vibrate deep within. I've been an open wound for the past few months and as my awareness grows I notice the change in my body and energy field. I feel warmth. An intimate love I've never received from anyone else. It feels like a giant warm blanket is surrounding me and in it is little fibers of love. Kissing my body so gently that it almost tickles like the wind. I've been so confused on why this feeling had been encompassing me for days. I knew that an emotional detox was taking place, is taking place, and I know that I've dived deeper into my spiritual practice. But for some reason I couldn't put two and two together. It took google to tell me that I was experiencing my root chakra opening from my pelvis. There has been so much energy flowing through that it gives off this orgasmic feeling. Unfortunately that's the best of it. The rest are lots of aches and pains, restless nights, vivid nightmarish dreams, and a heavy body (grounding to the earth). I feel sluggish, confused, anxious but somehow I also feel so much love, acceptance and security. I'm learning how to balance this new energy. I welcome it with loving arms as it becomes a part of me. I am so very grateful. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

My tips for anyone who is going through an emotional/ chakra detox;

1. I know it's painful but it's not permanent.

One thing I hate most is pain and it feels like someone has taken a bat to my joints. The more I hurt the more I find another way to mother myself. This pain and these experiences are here so that I can learn how to take care of myself. How can you take care of yourself today? How can you show yourself love? How can you be your own parent?

2. It's okay to not know.

YOU are your own expert. No one knows your body, mind and soul like you do. But for some reason we always look to others for the answer. Why? They don't know better then we do. However sometimes we have no idea and that's okay. This is when we research, learn and be open to the many answers that may be out there. Once we find something that makes sense to our being, that's when you know it is true for you. See there's nothing but truth out here in the world. But whether or not it's your truth determines whether or not it works for you.

3. Focus on your practice.

There are so many different kinds of self-love, self-care and spiritual practices that there's no way you can't find something that works for you. They can look and be anything. The question is how often and how long? My answer is lots and always. I love myself 1000 times a day. Even in the smallest acts I show kindness to my body, mind and soul. I rub oil on my body, I listen to soft sounds, I meditate every morning, I am very present while cooking and eating, I take warm baths and cold showers, I talk with my friends and my family and the list can go on forever. Focus on your practice by being present in all your moments. This is how you do the work.

4. Journal your heart away.

Journalling is so important. Getting your thoughts out, creating intentions and setting goals are vital for your growth on this beautiful planet. Journalling or having a place to record your feelings and life can open up your mind to new perspectives and ways of thinking. It can release stuck emotions and help you process what they mean. Journalling is your inner self expressing through you. Wanting to be heard and waiting for you to catch on.

Emotional detoxes are confusing. No one really knows whats happening until many levels of awareness are reached. Remember our bodies are a ball of energy and we release this energy through our physical bodies, even if we are having emotional problems. Look at crying, that it physical proof that are emotions manifest physically through our bodies.

Be patient with yourself love. You have all the time you need to figure it out so take it slow. You are precious and deserve to give yourself time to really get to know you and understand what keeps you balanced and full of joy. If you have any questions please let me know. It can be scary, but you are not alone.
