We have some fun local events that we have only recently started attending, because of our now regular date night. We went to see Georgette Jones, and she was great. She sang like her mother and sang songs by both her mother and father.
Hubby is an old country fan, particularly a George and Tammy fan. He named his oldest daughter Tammy after Tammy Wynette, after all. I thought he would love this, so I got tickets once we started date nights. He thought it was great.
There was a local cover band in the lobby before the event, and we enjoyed the three-piece band as well.
We have both attended many concerts over the years and now prefer a quieter, comfortable, and more relaxed atmosphere. As soon as this performance was over, he bought tickets for the Christmas with Elvis production. And I know this will not be the last!
I am hopeful that the concerts will be monthly for us. I noticed at both concerts that there was primarily a grey-haired and bald audience. Perfect for my hubby and me! I have been losing my hair. I am hopeful that it is the medication I recently discontinued, as one of the side effects is hair loss.
Before the concert, we went to a great-granddaughter’s Christmas performance. She had a solo, and we were so proud of her. It was fun, but my husband complained as he wasn’t able to tease her. He was going to say, “I saw a monkey up there singing, was that you?” They were escorted onto the school bus right after their performance.
Prior to our two Christmas productions, we had a funeral to attend. A good friend who had Agent Orange from Vietnam developed a cancer that killed him. It was sad and at the same time, a celebration of his life. He was a blessing to so many and will be missed.
We had lunch at the Dairy Queen. My husband's favorite spot to eat. When we are at other restaurants, he is known to say, “We could have been done eating and home by now if we had eaten at Dairy Queen. Since I gave up sugar and am cutting carbs, it is difficult to eat there. They do have a salad.
We missed two of our grandchildren’s basketball games on Thursday this week. I decided to take a day off from going anywhere. It seldom happens. It is that time of year again. Cold, snow, wind, ice, and it is dark too much of the day. The good news is that when the sun is out, I shine.
The sun is out today! Yesterday was a full and busy day. It was emotional and exciting. A perfect day for a date night! By 9:44, when our date night had ended, and all we had left was the drive home, I was yawning. Not from being bored, but from being tired. It really was a full day and evening.
We got home, and by 10:30, I was in bed and ready for sleep. However, there was too much that had gone unprocessed, so sleep didn’t come for another 30 minutes or so. I will miss Len. We saw many other friends at Len’s funeral. People we have known now since retirement.
I was so glad to be told about my great-granddaughter's class Christmas program. She was great! Her favorite singer is Taylor Swift, and I’m sure singing along with Taylor made it possible for Teah to volunteer for the solo.
I am sure glad that we agreed it was time to add date night to our week. Too much of our time together was spent in front of the television, watching his favorites or mine. Mostly his. I really enjoy being able to spend the day with my favorite hubby!

What a lovely idea: a date night to keep the flame burning. Good for you Denise!
Sounds like you had a great time!
Great fun, glad you had fun out! We had fun this weekend too but it was going to a plant nursery, getting pedicures and early dinner. P. S. I love the occasional Peanut Buster Parfait.
What a day and night you two had. You two seem to be living the life. Great job.
