The holidays are coming, and many are stressed about finding the perfect gifts. With all the daily tasks, shopping seems like a big burden. (No, I am not going to try and sell you products here or give you gift ideas.)
Holidays add stress with shopping and parties. For some, it's too much. So, we must prepare to handle it.
Stress is a part of life. We can't get rid of it all. But it's good for us because it makes us ready to act. The problem is when we don't solve our problems. Life shouldn't be a race.
Lily Tomlin said, some people say life is a rat race. If we take that attitude, then even if you win, you are still a rat.
Life doesn't have to be a rat race. We can learn to live with stress by finding balance.
How can we cope with stress?
First, make sure you get enough sleep. People often cut back on sleep to do more. But less sleep means more tiredness and stress.
Quality time is more important than quantity. When we're well-rested, we can solve problems better. Without sleep, we just go in circles.
Try to find a balance in your sleep. Go to bed at the same time every night. This helps your body get into a routine.
So, rule #1 is to get more sleep.
Six to eight hours of good sleep will always do a body good. It relaxes the mind so the body can repair itself. If you've ever experienced that deep sleep and awaken and felt really refreshed, that is why.
Rule #2 is to eat a balanced diet.
Our diet affects how we feel. Eating well keeps our body running smoothly. Fruits, veggies, and water are key. The healthier you eat the better you will feel, literally! A healthy diet is great at keeping your mind fit.
Rule #3 is to stop procrastinating.
Procrastination increases stress. Break down big problems into smaller parts. Work on them a little each day. You will be surprised at how much you could get done if you focused, I mean really focused on one task for just 30 minutes to one hour.
A Mountain is moved one stone at a time. Start moving your stones and you'll get rid of your mountain.
Rule #4 is to manage your time well.
Time is like money. Use it wisely. Balance work, problem-solving, and relaxation in your day.
Make sure to include relaxation time. Even 15 minutes a day can help. Take this time for yourself, no matter what.
There are many ways to relax. A walk outside, a warm bath, or meditation can calm your mind. Find what works for you.
Mediation doesn't have to be big or hard. Just find a quiet spot and let go of worries. Think of nothing for 15 minutes.
I like to imagine a black screen in front of me. When thoughts come, I tell myself not to think. My black screen is on.
Just relax, don't think, and be calm for 15 minutes. It will help you a lot. You'll think clearer after. A calm mind finds answers you never thought of.
Stress's effects on you depend on how you react. Stress is like a bully who keeps bothering you. You can give in or stand up for yourself.
The more you let stress control you, the worse off you'll be. You have to change your mindset and take control. Learning to stay calm and relaxed is one of your best options and against stress.
