humanity
The real lives of businessmen, professionals, the everyday man, stay at home parent, healthy lifestyle influencers, and general feel good human stories.
Hello.
Working during the pandemic. My name is Danecia Farmer aka Idaly Maceano, I am a 30-year-old creative who is still trying to figure it out fortunately. Lately, days have been going by slowly as I try to stay grounded and stay as focused as possible on my goals. I think that I have struggled to stay focused mostly because I have so much anxiety about what is going on in the world, so my journey has changed a bit and now I am focusing a lot more on expressing myself thoroughly instead of becoming a complete recluse.

To hire or not to hire?
It’s a dream come true for an international student to come to study abroad. With much enthusiasm, high expectations and fearlessness to take on the world, an international student is looking for successful career outcomes. However, it does not always pan out like that. The one thing that international students expect that when they complete an international degree, is that they will become suitable and highly likely to get hired by any employer. But it is commonly reported that it is difficult for international students to secure employment after graduation in the host country.

The Guildhall Library, City of London
This one Saturday in February was especially cold. London seemed to be blanketed in one continuous and seamless cloud whose grayness carried the threat of snow. It diffused the sunlight so much that what did filter through was flat and devoid of shadows. The wind came at me head on regardless of which direction I was walking along a gridwork of streets unchanged since medieval times. Its cold energy wheedled its way through the weft and weave of my multiple layers of clothing.

My 3.5 hrs as a professional mover
30DEC2020; 1150, WED Some of you (those friends/fam that can see my location on your phones) may or may not be wondering why I'm sitting at this lake, jamming out instead of finishing up my orientation and whatnot. I most def put in more than a few prayer requests and had no small measure of luck making it as far as I did with the company that just let me go.

New Years Resolutions
To say I haven’t had a great year is an understatement. The last part of the year I have spent not only worrying about the never ending list of family members testing positive for coronavirus and also I have now left my job due to stress after being in it for a year.

The Moments That Matter
I work for an essential business that services 80 percent of the city's population. My coworkers and I take thousands of calls a week assisting our customers so that they can continue being serviced during the pandemic. Our company decided to jump on what many customer service operations have now implemented in their business, "moments that matter". What happens is that we speak with a customer ( for whatever reason they are calling for) and during those calls a lot of customers share their current experiences and problems in their lives. When one stands out an employee sends a card and/or an extra gift just to remind our customers that we are here and that we understand. Below are a few stories that have touched my heart and showed me that there are really genuine loving people in the world.

Reshaping Hospitality
I’ve been working tirelessly in the hospitality field for my entire working life. Starting from high school, through colllege (actually went to college for it), and beyond. I have seen every struggle from almost every platform out there. Platform in this since is more the secular environment where a restaurant stands opposed to a hotel/cafe/country club/ or bar. The difference in the environment is based solely on the clientele it tries to attract. Much like any other business, ever. However there is a consistent dilemma no matter which arena your establishment caters to. It’s the workers. It’s the people making your food or catering to your needs. Call them servers, waitresses, waiters, bus boys, whatever suits you. Those are the ones I’m talking about. Then we’ll get into the back of house, the cooks, dishwashers, chefs, bakers, or whatever you think of them as.

A Silent War
A Silent War: One Woman's Experience In The Security Sector Written By: Lady Venomous - December 27, 2020 I work in the Security Industry as an Account Manager for a company in Silicon Valley with a Master's Degree in Communication, and I am a woman. I figured out a way to remain healthy and resilient in this field despite the infestation of toxic masculinity, sexual harassment, stereotyping, and discrimination against women. Even at the self-proclaimed progressive corporations, I've experienced men of all ages doubting my competency and intelligence because I am a woman. At this point in my life, I've cultivated self-discipline, restraint, temperance, and a beast-mode mentality of out-performing and out-earning everyone in my field. I figured out how to make it work, but that does not mean the challenges end here. The challenges get worse periodically, depending on the new hire culture. Every woman entering this field should brace herself for a world built to destroy her and come armed.

Rewind 2020: A year full of undesired surprises
2020 has been a year like no other. Over 100 million people in India lost their jobs by the end of March when a lockdown was imposed to combat COVID-19. Since then, many who managed to hold on to their jobs were forced to take pay cuts. CNBC-TV18’s Ritu Singh looks back at the year that was for India's job market and finds that employment rate has been falling since 2017.

Voice Acting Storytime: What Recording In An Airbnb Closet Taught Me
Since this is my first proper post, I thought I’d share another first: my first recording. I admit it was nothing too exciting, but I think it's an important memory. I mean how else am I supposed to know if I’ve gotten better? The whole point of this blog is to track my growth, and help others learn from my experiences after all, so why not start at the beginning?

Happy Anniversary, Vocal (You Fickle Mistress)!
Three years ago, when I was still a bored young woman unwilling to get rid of Instagram, I saw an ad to become a paid freelance writer on a website called Vocal. Vocal was a place to write about whatever you could possibly want; get inspired, get busy, get some validation from other writers or casual readers on the internet. With a couple of weeks until the rise of 2018, I had been listlessly searching for something to change my luck around. Since my graduation in 2017 and subsequent smack in the face by the reality of millions of others just as desperate to find a good gig in life, I had been locked deep in a depressed haze. I couldn't seem to get myself out of the dense muck of incompetence and pessimistic anxiety to the point where I couldn’t ever see being happy with myself and what I was doing. Who I was becoming.
